What morrowind really is.... - by Maximus_canuck

People tend to be too harsh on morrowind. They say it's to easy, and i do agree. However a game is designed to be an escape from reality. We come home from work, we're tired, and just want to relax. Think back to when you see “reality movies” a movie where the bad guys win. It usually doesn’t succeed because people want to escape from this harsh world called life. This is why games like morrowind are created.
If you so desire a challenge, get a girl friend. Help a buddy handle the fact he has cancer. Work an early morning custodial job so you have to be in bed by 7:00pm. All these things and more are in our lives to help us become a better person. To improve our inner character, not our X box character. Instead we tend to complain that we only can sell 10,000 at a time, and our “house” is a measly tower.
Appreciate the availability to escape from life. However if you want real difficulty and growth, I’d suggest not always escaping to a virtual reality.
:erg: It's just some thing we should all think about :erg:

So:
Easy games and conventional movies=Good clean escapisim
Hard games and unconventional movies=Delving into virtual reality
How bout it's just a matter of personal preference? Some people like thier escapisim to be mentally engaging, others like it to be easy going and soft on the brain, and I don't think it's right of you to say that your method is the better or correct one because you feel that escapisim by it's nature has to be simple. Who says that "reality movies" aren't a form of escape? Suppose I get home after a long shift and I wan't to watch an unconventional mentally engaging movie from the comfort of my sofa instead of a predictable convetional movie where good wins, evil is vanquished, and everyone falls in love with eachother? It's all a matter of personal taste in game and movies I think.

Hmm...
Good point.
My father plays a lot of computer games. He comes home from work, gets on his level 61 necromancer and kills boring ass skyfire mobs repeatedly(in Everquest). He never dies and it's not a challenge, he does it because he says it relaxes him. Why an engineer needs 4 hours every night to relax from a pretty monotonous job I don't know, but you can keep that shit.
When I play a game it has to make me use all my billions and billions of nerve whatsits to figure out how to kick its ass. I don't get lured into a sense of alter-realism by fictional characters, except when I'm kicking someone's ass real good.
Anyway, Tuco is the best guy ever.

But don't overreact.
Answering to the guy at the top what Morrowind really is is a roleplaying game. Your attributes define your personality and you change your attributes by rasing your skills and using them.
The world is defined by what you see and by the dialogs and books. You interact with the world by roleplaying. But when something in the game allows a person to drink 10 potions in no time and get its enhcant to 500% or to enhcant something to boost attributes very high then the fun of roleplaying compromising and you start to think of your character has an empty shell.
Anyway the game is easy and lets you be 100 evrything at level 30 or so and there are many great things about the game to make it a very good rpg.
But if you want relaxation and a real chalange at the same time check my mod at (

Its alpha you need Bloodmoon and there are just two levels of Privateers Hold, but its very fun. ;) And you will get to see naked perverted chicks while kicking some butt for fun.

Privateer's Hold ? Ooo
RyushiBlade on 4/9/2003 at 19:50
I'm new to the Elder Scrolls Series (III is my first.) What was the Privateer's Hold?
Jordana on 4/9/2003 at 20:50
Privateer's Hold was the starter dungeon in Daggerfall (ES chapter II)....I've got very fond memories of that place-genuinely unnerving music, skeletons, cackling with glee as I picked up my first pile of gold......fun :D

Hehe. Nothing beats the original though, I had to pull out Daggerfall. Sadly it doesn't run well with out DosBox. Which I currently lack.
