The ambiance is just basic, you're alone, you don't know what the hell happened in here because you have just come back from a long sleep, and there is a whole crew of non happy pipe and shotgun wielding dudes coming at ya.
And there are rebellious monkeys and crazy computers fighting for power and control of the spaceship.
Not to mention grotesque suicide pacts and ghostly apparitions.
Oh man, why oh why I ever looked on to that dead body hanging over there.

It's my favourite game ever. I enjoy it every time I play and I recommend it to everyone. However if you're not enjoying it, you're not enjoying it. It's not your fault; you're just not as inclined to this time of game as other people may be. It could possibly be how you're playing it, when you're playing, what kind of computer set up you have... lots of things.
Essentially it's all about atmosphere. The first (and last) time my flatmate played it I had him set up in a dark room with headphones. It scared the crap out of him and he never played it again. You might like to try that, but don't beat yourself up if you're just can't get into it.

Your not getting me guys, im saying that i play for some minutes then get bored and shut off the pc, then come back later and play some more minutes then gets boring and shut off the pc...... <repeat as many times as needed> and no im not a troll if i was a troll i would be saying "zomfg ss2 is teh suck!!one!!eleven" or some stuff like that.
