Relax, it was only this one time, plus that poor little pig wasn't killed for this sole purpose (I think).
My next biology class will be genetics, no autopsies there.

I thought animal autopsies have been banned in basic and high schools in most civilized countries. :weird:
Apparently not the dissection of cow eyes and flat worms. :eww:
Something as big, aggressive and intelligent as the Humboldt squid is right up there on my list. Those things attack anything that moves and the eyes creep me out.

What? What on earth are you talking about?

Rare inborn defects, finally something merrier.

I have a genical failure myself, causing me to get blinder by the second. I have already lost all ability to see in darkness. So it'll be an interesting course.
Anyways, we are getting off topic. ;)

Oh, I get it now - schools in Slovakia only teach messed-up stuff so a bunch of autopsy orgies sparked public outrage (finally!) and animal dissection was banned?

Yeah, because clearly, only a civilized country would attempt to teach an entire generation of future biological scientists, doctors and health care professionals without giving them any practical experience or knowledge whatsoever.
Evidently the definition of "civilized" must be pretty warped in that backwoods virtually-third-world country you live in.
Rogue Keeper on 27/4/2007 at 16:17
Easy, dork.
I didn't mention universities in which generations of future biological scientists, doctors and health care professionals are truly being educated and trained. Are you slow ? If it's a highschool specialized on medicine and biology, then let it be so.
But why should other sensitive kids with conscious objections and absolutely no guts to mess with flesh and intestines do autopsies ? It is not enough to show them anatomy pictures and virtual models ?
Bjossi on 27/4/2007 at 16:24
Well, I for one wouldn't be in biology class if I wasn't interested in the subject.
And what are those sensitive kids you speak of? The ones who have lazy parents that don't forbid them to see gory stuff that is clearly meant for higher age groups?
Rogue Keeper on 27/4/2007 at 16:30
Good, that finally clears something - I was afraid that all kids in your school are supposed to do it.
That was not the group of "sensitive kids" I had on my mind. You probably don't know any. Sarcasm is appreciated, though.
