On topic to the thread's original question: I was made very happy by congratulating a co-worker who has fallen pregnant after trying IVF for the first time, she's a lovely person and will make a great mother, so seeing her get there and be able to hug her was a great little moment.
That's beautiful. But then you're such a lucky mofo with those great kids of yours.

Small thing, but yesterday I created a Netflix account and loaded up the Netflix app on the PS3, and what made me happy was seeing my wife's face light up when I showed her how many TV series she likes were on there. I love making her happy, even with small things like this.
Bingo. I remember when more superficial things used to make me happy. Now it's when my SO gets home from a long shift and is happy to see I've made a nice dinner for her (last think was boar sauce pasta. PM me for recipe. Was the bomb) I'm happy.

Well, yeah, the etymological origin of the word is something like teacher or learned person, but 99% of the time, when you say doctor, people assume physician.
I know. It's a sad state of affairs. When I worked at the IoP in London the medical doctors were referred to as medics, which made much more sense to me and, when they presented work, was pretty obvious anyway. They don't teach experimental design or stats in med school. Well, they try.

I was pretty happy when Grumpy Cat got banned.

Oh, that actually made me sad yesterday... but I haven't seen that thread to post that in.

Driving to Neuchâtel with the wife yesterday to swim in the lake, later going to the film festival there to see Casablanca w/ a live introduction by George R.R. Martin, eating pizza afterwards while watching a thunderstorm brewing over the lake in the evening, made me happy.

Aw man, that sounds awesome. I really want pizza now!

Top Gear UK usually does the job. Today the hover craft film did the trick.

Apologies for being such a frequent necromancer of this thread, but today my wife gave birth to an actual kid, which made me happier than I think I've ever been.
Still feel kind of high. I've not slept in a bed since Saturday evening though, so it feels kind of surreal all round.
Also, I will never look at women with kids the same way again. Fucking Spartans.

I'm so happy for you both - just fabulous news. Many congratulations.
What type did you get?
