I didn't say it was real or worked before we mucked it up. I just stated that we indeed mucked it up.
Fair enough. It's just another drop in the ocean of reasons why the whole thing is a crock.

I feel like people that revel in exposing how "bullshit" astrology is are the kind of people that would go to an 8-year-old's birthday party to rip the wig off the clown ... "you idiots, he's just a guy!" Haha ... the parents are going to want you to give the wig back and let the kids have their fun.
If the only people who believed in astrology were 8-year-olds, I would agree with you. Unfortunately such superstitions are not only taken seriously by adults, but even used as the basis of decisions by people with the power to affect all of our lives, whether
we share the beliefs or not.

The descriptions are intentionally so vague and generic that they fit pretty much anybody (especially when you conveniently ignore all of the incorrect parts and focus only on the matches).
It's not quite right to assert so. Another kinds of astrological literature are also known. For example, "Linda Goodman's Sun Signs" by L. Goodman... I won't have the heart to say that she gave a vague descriptions. They are original and distinctive. I was reading her book and constantly catching myself at the thought: "Yes, it's me", "And that is really about my sister" and suchlike.
Yes, we all try to disregard the discrepancies; but, anyway, those features are exist, maybe as a latent form.

Scorpio, Nov. 2, same as David Schwimmer! (I only care because AFIK everyone hates his characters) Also year of the Tiger according to some great Chinaman.

That doesn't prove anything; you would get exactly the same result with totally generic descriptions.
If you really want to test whether the descriptions are accurate, give
all twelve to somebody who knows you well, without telling them which is which, then ask them to pick the description which best matches you. This is exactly how astrological descriptions are put to the test, except in a real test you would use a larger number of people and higher standards of rigour.

So now, how're we supposed to find out which sign has the most TTLG Thief fans?
Stitch on 29/12/2007 at 22:50
I currently give about as much of a shit about Thief as I do about astrology, so I'm pleased to see a thread that ties it all together.
BrokenArts on 29/12/2007 at 22:53
Then why bother posting to it, oh post count, got it.
Stitch on 29/12/2007 at 23:14
I also don't give a shit about post counts. I expect you're taking notes.
