Really in my position...it sounds stupid...but it's best for me to not publicly state the name of the company. Not that it's all that dramatic or interesting...buttttttttt

A bit odd, but I'll roll with it. Never heard of company stopping people from saying who they work for.

That's ominous as fuck.
On topic. I run a bookstore for a teeny tiny medical college, the kind you see really lame/cheesy late night adverts for. It's boring as shit, but I get to work on my own stuff all the time, and get paid pretty okay.

Been a safety engineer for a bit more than two years now. Assessment of critical* systems and software, safety analyses, training, technology advice, management of quality and development cycles, some R&D and the occasional line of code or two (actually developed an energy management system for an experimental train last year).
All in all, stuff that people consider fun and that I find increasingly boring.
I'm probably going to go independant before opening an art cafe in russia while doing cog.sci. research in my basement or something.

Full time law student and I intern with a district state judge. Now the trick is to find a job that will pay me while I incur this debt.

I'm currently selling TV's and electronics at a large retail outlet after being a cook most of my life. What a job! Bullshit with people who know even less than I do and sell them "protection agreements" or as I call them "maintenance plans" for their TV's and cameras.
I figure it this way. I can sweat my cubes off in a hot kitchen making around 12 bucks an hour, or hang around in an air conditioned area and sell shit I know nothing about making the same amount.
Only problem is, the cheap pricks give me 1% commission unless I sell the "maintenance plans" which net me a whopping 9%. It's all about the metrics baby!

I wonder if it's inversely related that the harder a place pushes that kind of thing, the less actual protection is involved. I used to work for Staples, and they always pushed us to try for the extra protection plan for the computers and furniture. But we never saw a dime out of it so we never cared all that much. But in reality, the plans (at least for the furniture, can't speak towards the computers) were pretty good.

I'm in work training (funded by the goverment/employment office) in a cafe/coffee shop to be a barista. I don't get much money from it, but thankfully my living expenses are small so I cope. The work itself is amazing, considering Finland is full of shit coffee.
Nowadays I'm pretty confident with all of the basic drinks and can whip up some fancy hot and cold drinks if needed. I'm quite well-versed in coffees (I do them as hobby too, so it helps) and I'm extremely happy that we have some nice rarities on sale there (Yemen Al-Jamal for example).
In the end though, I love how my workplace is laid-back in such manner that completely random people can come in, order a coffee from the other side of the world and sit down and play guitar and chitchat. The atmosphere is just how it should be in a good cafe.

Wow, I definitely will visit it! Even probably can help with some organizational issues.
