I was being a smartass when I voted, so my vote shouldn't really count. Real opinion? Dislike it. Intensely. For all the reasons I've given since we first learned what NuThief was all about. I'm tired of repeating myself, so I'll spare you all.
Basically, everything Lady R said.

So far its looked good. Its just the story and some parts of the gameplay (like the guard A.I.) that concern me

Was their swoop in Dishonored?
How can you dislike a game for not having an editor? Especially when you don't actually know if it will ever get an editor?
If you think combat with a blackjack is ridiculous you don't know anything about real combat. Admittedly it means that Garrett is highly trained but close quarters combat with small blunt instruments vs swords is actually perfectly viable.
You can turn off loot glint, enemy indicators and you don't need to use the X-ray vision stuff.
The other things you two don't like are fair enough, but a lot your reasons really make no sense. When I read things like this it just makes me think that you don't want to like it and no matter how good it is because you're nitpicking.

You're right, I forgot that nuGarret wasn't trained by the Keepers. Now he is a street fighting boy, throwing punches and breaking enemies' necks...

All your arguments have been debated for even too long. As Dia said, I don't want to annoy people again and again.
As everyone around here, I was eagerly awaiting this game. The list of negative things about it is too long to call me nitpicking.

Hmm. Well that's good enough for me. Thanks for clearing that up. But
avoiding arguments? Come on now guys.
There's not much to argue about. We have a pretty good idea of what the game will be like by now. Some of us are ok with the changes, some of us aren't. I'm not gonna argue that someone is wrong to feel the way they feel.
Merry christmas btw. :)

It looks great, visually. But I can't really say with any definitiveness whether it looks good or bad, whether I like it or not. I haven't had the chance to try it. It is what it is, which is to me that it looks like any other game out there that's been developed within the past few years—a game that aims to give the player an 'experience' through story-driven cinematic bullshit instead of just allowing the player to play. And that's really all that's disappointing for me.
My opinion on the whole matter is/remains that one cannot reboot a game like Thief. It's a universe so steeped in tradition and lore that any consideration of a reboot is truly insane and destined to instantly fail. Why would one want to reboot what isn't broken? So either make a fourth Thief game, or move on to a different project. What is even the point of rebooting a game like Thief? Does it have to have a 'modern flare' to be successful? Isn't Minecraft ridiculously successful? And all it is is a bunch blocks that you break then build shit with?
But that's all been hashed and rehashed to the point of stupidity.
In the end, when it's finally released and I have a chance to form a true opinion, I may love it. It may prove to be a completely fun diversion and a great excuse for avoiding work. And it may prove to be something new, something unique. But, unfortunately, what they've presented so far speaks nothing of that to me, and instead seems to show it as nothing more than a combination of so many other current games and current game clichés with a few new gadgets thrown in.
Once again, I could be totally wrong. This could blow my socks off. I hope it blows my socks off! But I doubt it will. Just from what I have seen, it feels like I've already played this game.
So I guess my vote would be: 'Disappointed with a bit of reserved optimism edging on indifference'

... and if they really wanted to reboot it for "modern audiences", they should have turned it into a GTA game.
GTA: THE CITY
You play as Garrett, a hired thug who's sent on missions across the city to clear your name and bring down the system. Along the way, you must steal carriages, and swipe purses and loot to earn money.
But then again, I've already played that.

If Minecraft was rebooted today, it would be a linear cinematic cover-based TPS with survival elements.

Actually, TDS already went in that direction with its hivemind factions that you can gather respect for and a hub area with respawning enemies for general dicking around. Now the reboot apparently has side missions.

I'm afraid I disagree. There's always something to argue about...
No there's not.
