Check this thread: (
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=112720) Thief TDP running with latest drivers.
I upgraded to a 7950GT (purchased from NewEgg, but a PCIEx16, not AGP) from a 7600GT and TDP started working again using my previously installed 93.71 drivers. TMA and TDS already were working, so now all three are running for the first time for me in a long time.

That sounds promising. Do you know, or can you test, does the 7950GT work with 84.21 drivers? 84.21 are reportedly more stable than any in the 9x.xx series. The main issue is, do the 84.21 drivers recognize the 7950GT card? I have combed the internet for a driver vs. card compatibility list, and I can't find one.
Another potential issue is the AGP. Has anyone run a 79xx GT with AGP?

Hi Smithpd
I can catagoricly state that the drivers I am using atm " 84.56 " and are 100% stable and will work with the 7950GT.
And as far as AGP goes it will just be an issue of speed, i.e. 5-10% slower than PCI-E.

Thanks, biker. :)
Based on your endorsement, I have ordered this:

I guess this is the end of the line for Nvidia. This computer will be my Thief computer until it goes up in smoke. Even then, I will have two other playable video cards as backups: 6800 GT and Ti 4200. I can always put the 4200 on a backup computer and use that whenever I feel in the mood for some "good sky." :)
I'll let you know in a few days if it works as advertised.

My new computer (running XP) has a nVidia NX7600GS 256 MB card and does not play Thief 2. This card was less than the GF7800 which I thought was the threshold,so I thought I was OK, but maybe I don't know what I'm talking about at all. Does anybody know what is wrong and what, if anything, I can do about it? I noticed that the motherboard has nVidia GeForce 6150 + nForce430. Does this play Thief and can I have a second hardware setup to use this instead of that new card? Thanks.

That's really off topic. Why don't you start another thread? And while you are about it, state the full specs of your system including OS, CPU, audio and video cards and drivers for same, and state exactly what the symptoms of "not playing" are.

Hi Smithpd
A ttlg taffer called harley has just bought a 7950GT pci-e, you may want to have a chat with him etc

Yes, thanks. Harley sent me a PM. In it he said he had the 7950 GT and it worked for T2 with no changes. He had not played T1 or T3 on it. Looks promising. He also said you were very helpful.:)
I should get mine today.

Does light reflecting off Garret's sword look more "dull" than it used to? I seem to remember a much brighter shine when I played with my old Geforce 4. Anyone else notice this?
I think I remember a thread on this subject long ago, complete with comparison screen shots, but my search came up empty.

Ehhhm, I'm just curious....may I ask why a 7950 GT will work better than a 6800 GT?
