That's why I talked about the xbox game. Not the xbox itself. Limitations of a platform have ways around them. I agree completely so no need defending your precious console. :erg:

What exactly is mind-blowing about it? The consequence-free decisions? The console-centric interface? The tiny levels? The unified ammo? The flakey AI? The uninspiring plot? The glacial engine? Heck, even Undying had a more meaningful skill advancement system.
No, without DX1, DX:IW would hardly have raised an eyebrow. Just another shovelware console port to be consigned to the bargain bin.

You know, ZB, every time I see your name as last poster in a thread I get a little thrill of anticipation as I look forward to another instalment in your invective litany on this game. Not that it is undeserving, but it always makes me smile... :D

The funny thing is, I only played through DX for the first time a couple months ago.
I guess all those runs through SS2 primed me to become an instant fan. :thumb:

For the most part the freedom of choice (though I have my share of complaints about that), the shear amount of
stuff you can do. For an FPS game, there is a lot of choice. Granted this is would be nothing new to LGS fans, but when DX1 came out there was so much freedom and interaction that is rarely seen in a first person game. DXIW has that, only on a lower level. You go and read reviews about the game by people who've not played DX1 and they tend to be thuroughly impressed with it. But anyone who's played DX1 has more than enough experience with a far superior game (IMO) to not be nearly as impressed as what was done in DXIW.

Agreed, all of that has been done much better in other games throughout the short history of gaming, however few FPS games come to mind which have quite the freedom of choice presented in DXIW (aside from DX1). Basically what I'm saying is that the "conscious-free decisions" are not a bad thing because it actually allows decisions to begin with.
