let’s dream up a new chapter for Thief!
Picture Garrett, the Master Thief, slipping back into the City’s shadows—older, wiser, and carrying the weight of his past like a shadow that never fades. What would his epic return feel like in a modern game?
Would he embrace cutting-edge gadgets to outsmart the City Watch, or stick to his trusty blackjack and arrows, keeping it old-school?
I’m dying to hear the storylines you’d craft—maybe a heist to steal a cursed artifact or a rebellion against a corrupt Baron. What gameplay mechanics would you love?
Stealthier movement, dynamic light-and-shadow systems, or maybe a nod to modding like the creativity you’d find in a Toca Boca APK?
And how would you bring the City to life—grimy alleys, glowing taverns, or eerie Keeper ruins? Fans, lore nerds, and fellow shadow-dwellers—share your ideas and let’s craft Garrett’s comeback together!

FYI I've moved this thread to Thief General Discussion (from General Gaming) & I deleted a duplicate thread. I think when you tried to edit your post, you accidentally created a new thread, duplicating it. But I fixed it now. :)
As for a new game, while I really didn't like almost everything about the latest Thief (4) game, the one thing I did actually like was the aesthetic, the dark and grimey world it made. I don't know if I'd change the mechanics much. I would like to see the game explore the world beyond the City some more though, maybe travelling to multiple large cities with very different styles, like a medieval Baghdad or Constantinople style.
I'd also really love to see an editor to make fan maps (of course) and native multiplayer so we could play maps coop style.

As far as I'm concerned, Garrett never really left. Moorcock invented the concept of the Eternal Champion; I submit Garrett as the Eternal Rogue.

T1/T2 mechanics and visuals are perfection for me, I don't want them modernized :p

I agree, do you think you would you be willing to play Thief on mobile (at the expense of losing some controls due to complexity) or always prefer a PC??

It's funny that this post is right above a thread about playing Thief on the Steam Deck, and people are saying it's the perfect game for that kind of platform. I guess by mobile you might mean like a phone or pad. But for a handheld like the Deck or its like, it doesn't really change the controls or game much, except playing it with a controller, and you can already do that with the vanilla game. Anyway if a person did want to play it mobile, that's the way I'd recommend.
