Fair point. Well-represented by giving the title role to a non-Jewish person, but getting the antagonistic stereotype to be played by a Jewish Buddhist.

A few people have wryly observed that the present vogue for authenticity in casting seems to apply to every minority but one.
Personally I don't think it really matters, although I did raise an eyebrow about Tom Conti portraying Einstein; that felt a little iffy.

Just watched
The Timekeepers of Eternity, a fan-edit/remix of the mid-90's
The Langoliers mini series, based on a Stephen King story. This one edits it down from 3h to 1h, and adds a wild visual style that papers over the wonky CGI of the original. It's a good watch!
It's available to watch on vimeo till the end of October I think.

I thought it looked dumb as hell but then I watched it and it got better and better: Ted Lasso.

i am gonna rewatch classic thriller and horror movies like Possesion(1981),Altered state(scifi horror,1980), The Thing(1982), The Blob (1958&1988), Videodrome(1983) & The beast within(1982) and i have "les yeux sans visage(1960) queued on my movie playlist and bumped it to the top of my queue. I am not getting used to black and white movies from 1940s,50s and 60s.
I am planning to watch three days of condor, a clockwork orange and andromeda strain for sci-fi genre

I want to see possession but I've yet to see where I can see it for free. And yes, Ted Lasso is better than you think. A genuine nice guy is a bit hard to take at first. And they come with all that do gooder baggage. Ek do gooders. All those boring spaces where evil folks like me can't seem to connect. And then you have to face that you have do gooder in you too. The horror. And the Timekeepers of Eternity was better than the original Langoliers. The premise of time eaters was always so hokey to me but this way it was shorter and more arty somehow.
I just watched Reptile on Netflix and found it an excellent detective story. Very tense. The hero doesn't know who to trust. Everyone or anyone could be in on it. His wife could be. His friends. Anyone. But there is a particular scene that hits home for me. His wife hands him a drink. At first he declines it. Then he does what I would do. I know I would because there was a time my wife was having mental issues. She is on medication and fine now. But I told her then that if she offered me poison I would drink it knowing what it was and why I would. Looking back I see that as a turning point of sorts. That scene hit hard for me. Reverberations and all.

Next up after binging the entire 11 seasons of Cheers in about a week and a half then straight to Ted Lasso I'm going to take it easy and watch all of the original Magnum P.I. series again. I haven't seen any of them since the 80's so it'll be fun I think to revisit the series.

Do yourself a favor and watch Midnight Mass on Netflix. At first I was a tad bored while it fleshed out the characters and back story but I came to understand even the little things were important. All of the intimations were building slowly then all of a sudden...

I'm not kidding. I think I said that exact thing in that exact tone of voice. This short series of seven episodes played upon my very real phobia of religion and fanaticism. The ability of religion to justify and rationalize absolutely anything is a very deep-seated fear in me. This completely horrified me. This is a very observant parallel in the putting together of two themes. Watch it. It scared the shit out of me.

Midnight Mass is great and I’m excited for Mike Flanagan’s next series The Fall of the House of Usher.
Tonight I went to see The Creator. It’s well worth watching for science fiction fans. Reminded me of Blade Runner a little with the city scenes and strong Asian presence and it has some Star Wars vibes too as can be expected of Gareth Edwards. The story is engaging though not completely clear of plot holes. The visuals are kind of grimy, you can tell that it was shot in a sort of guerrilla, gonzo filmmaking style with a less than stellar camera as I just read on IMDb but it fits the dystopian visuals. It’s also fun to watch an alternate reality science fiction movie instead of just Earth in the future. I’m a sucker for the kind of retro-futuristic technology that they had on this movie. It has a strong emotional core and succeeded in making me care about the human protagonists but also the plight of the androids. I also really enjoyed the excellent Hans Zimmer soundtrack which I will be blasting over my soundbar later this weekend.
