TLOU E3
Hard agree. One of the best TV moments I've experienced in a very long time.
Genuinely moving for all the right reasons.

Anyone mention Nobody, with Bob Odenkirk and Christopher Lloyd in it? Loved that movie. One of the best I've seen in a while. Some of the scenes in it were a tad forced at times, but I still loved it.
It's on my list (I actually bookmarked it last week on Prime when I saw it was available there), but I just started a
Babylon 5 marathon. When I finish I'll probably check it off my backlog.

Yeah, the Aliens' directors cut adds in some footage of the colonists at the start, filling you in on what happened to them. I felt this part *really* detracted from the movie because the viewer loses the suspense of discovering that backstory for themselves, along with the main characters. However other than that I didn't really shot for shot compare the two versions so I'm not 100% sure what else he added in there.
Are there many good examples of the director's cut
improving the movie? All the examples that spring to mind (Blade Runner prominently) have director's cuts that damage the pacing, and sometimes the mood/themes, of the theatrical cut.

Ridley Scott’s Kingdom of Heaven director’s cut is so much better than the theatrical cut that it’s almost a different movie.

I just watched "Freaky" from 2020. Freaky Friday meets horror.

Decided to watch all the Rocky movies, for some reason.
Rocky - thought I'd seen this before but in retrospect I've only caught bits n pieces on TV. Great movie, full of great charcter moments.
Rocky II - follows on from the original in a very organic way and without overdoing it.
Rocky III - Mr. T is great as the hungry up n commer Clubber Lang. Besides him tho, eh, I dunno. It's a decent movie but kinda forgettable.
Rocky IV - if this series ever "jumps the shark" it's when Rocky gives Paulie a friggin ROBOT for his birthday. This movie is really over the top and the running time consists of probably 30% montages. It's fun, but also pretty silly and jarring next to the rest of the series.
Rocky V - Rocky's lawyer runs off with all his money, putting him back in the slums of Philly. The doctors say his head got so banged up by Ivan Drago that he can't fight any more. This is truly Rocky at rock botttom. The relationship he forms with young upstart Tommy Gunn is captivating. I'd heard this was the weakest entry in the Rocky saga, but gotta say I liked it a lot!
Rocky Balboa - the whole premise of Rocky making a comeback at 60 is pretty far-fetched, but somehow the movie sells it. This remarkably feels very consistent with the earlier movies despite the huge timeleap.
My ranking of the series would be something like: Rocky > Rocky II > Rocky Balboa > Rocky III > Rocky V > Rocky IV

Have you seen Creed, which is basically a continuation of the Rocky films? I really enjoyed the first of these; Creed 2 was okay, but by no means a must-see.
henke on 16/2/2023 at 07:00
Yeah, actually watched it again recently. It's really good! Barely remember Creed 2, thinking about giving it a rewatch.

Incorrect, he's a sadist. (Why yes I did in fact play Stilt Fella. Poorly.)
