Yeah, I think you're totally confused about the timeline there dema.
The Mandalorian is 5? years after RotJ.

Oh, well then there you go. I guess I did know that and misremembered it. That changes my take into a flip version of that (why wasn't the Luke of post-E7 like this, why didn't Grogu have any role, and what happened with the whole Jedi thing at all? But what they did with this show was the more obvious & uncontroversial way to get around the last trilogy anyway.), but it's okay. Anyway, great show all around.

Finally saw Tenet.
Great film. What a trip.
I watched it with subtitles in the end because the sound mixing is dreadful, and discovered that not only did it make sense finally (got over halfway through workout subtitles) but that every conversation has something important in it, every sentence practically. It's an extremely dense script.
4/5 for sound only. Nolan does it again.

I also liked Tenet, watched it with English subs because I watch everything with subtitles. I'll watch this again in due time, there's so much substance that it rewards multiple viewings.
What's also good is Pixar's new movie Soul. An animation movie with something to say, suitable for older kids and adults (it's not going to appeal to young children in the way that movies like Cars do). Great jazzy soundtrack and also cool electronic soundscapes by Reznor & Ross. Too tired to write a proper review but if you have Disney+, I recommend watching it.

I liked Soul too, though I think its plot is somewhat too flabby to make it a Pixar classic. It is visually gorgeous, however, and it's fascinating how well it blends its characters of various degrees of visual stylisation with backdrops that at times are practically photorealistic. The animation, too, is top notch. Even if I think the script could've used a few more trips around the block, the visual craftsmanship is amazing, and the film is well worth watching even for that.

Soul was ok.
I watched Rocketman last night, liked it a lot! Even tho the story hits all the standard musician biopic plot points (y'know, sex, drugs, rock n roll) the way this story is told is more impressionistic than the kinda boringly by-the-numbers Bohemian Rhapsody. Here's a couple great scenes/numbers:

I'm not there was a pretty good musician biopic. Went a lot further in its surrealism than people starting singing in everyday situations or flying metaphors - and nailed it.

No disagreements about "I'm not there". I also liked all the new cover versions of Dylan's songs in it.

Death to 2020.
Started well, it's lagging in the middle, badly. I'll finish it later in the week. So far very hit and miss.

I finally got around to watching Mandalorian. First few episodes, fine, it was ok. I was a bit underwhelmed, but it was enough fan service to get my own account and pay for it, my neighbour very kindly allowed me to his to test it out. About the prisoner episode, suddenly the writing started getting good. I just finished series 1, and I'm growing to like it. Yes, of course, I'm a bitter cynical old bastard, Leone and Kurosawa are even blatantly referenced for us nerds, even more fan service. But I like it.
It's getting better. And if I'm to believe my neighbour, series 2 is better. We'll see.
