The Boys S2 really almost wraps up what developed over S1 and S2. I agree with you iceman, it had some oddly boring episodes but in the end it was a pretty good season.
Saw The Invisible Man. What a shame. Atmosphere was spot on. Moss is good (as always). Some of the cinematography was spot on getting the spookiness down. Effects were really good too.
But plotholes ahoy! Could have been much better and therefore all the more disappointing. 2/5. Shame shame.

LOL, I liked both The Invisible Man and The Devil All The Time, although the latter is depressing AF.

Let's see, what did I watch. I watched the first season of Fleabag. While Phoebe Waller-Bridge is probably a likable enough girl and certainly smart, her character is an asshole, grieving or not, which made it hard for me to connect. I certainly don't see how she deserved the praise she got for creating a strong non-conforming female. Because female or not, she's an asshole.
I stopped watching Orange is the new Black when Piper got her prison branding. I really should have stopped when they were all bathing in the lake, because it only went downhill from there. I'd liked the small ensemble cast from the beginning and their human connections, but apparently they had to turn the chick jail to eleven.
I watched Lovesick (formerly Scrotal Recall) which I wholeheartedly recommend, because it has a small lovable ensemble cast and explores their personal relations. Luke is the best.
I am watching Red Oaks which cannot decide whether it wants to be funny or dramatic and achieves none so far but manages to stay mildly entertaining.
And I just started Tales from the Loop which, against all odds, avoids all the obvious mistakes and manages to be as strange and moving as Stålenhag's art.

I also recently rewatched Alien, Aliens, both Kill Bills, and Ultraviolet. The latter is marred by a by-the-numbers plot, cheap CGI, and derivative action scenes, but saved by Milla Jovovich who manages to instill heart into this artificial movie product.

I tried to get into the Haunting of Bly Manor, especially since I loved Hill House so much, but...damn, I couldn't do it.

There's this old black and white movie based on the Turn of the Screw, I think it's called The Innocents. That's the only scary house movie you ever need to watch.

The Invitation is a nice slow build horror. I admire the tension and little clues along the way. If you hate waiting on the other shoe to drop it's not for you.
The Devil All the Time was just a bunch of shitty people getting what they deserved but not soon enough. It played up the crazy and hypocritical aspects of religion which are all too real. But yeah, even though the main character survived and good prevailed (for one person) it was still depressing because of the damage done.
Everybody should see The Innocents. It's a classic for a reason. Everybody should see They Look Like People too. Best indie film I've seen. Packed with tension. Anything can happen when someone really is crazy and they did a good job of conveying that.

Bent neck lady episode was a work of art.

I've been watching the new "The Right Stuff" show on D+. It's nice but... too polished I guess? There's something not quite right in the execution, but I can't quite put my finger on what it is. It's too artificial in a sense, I think. It feels like they took the epic of the Mercury Seven and managed to make it... bland. :erg:
I'll keep watching though, to see how they treat the rest of it.

Yes. Yes she was.
Hell, everything about that show was awesome. It makes the relative letdown of Bly Manor that much harder to bear.

I See You
Now this is an interesting, surprising movie that gave me the chills a little. It's an indie movie with the only actress I know being Helen Hunt, who acts weirdly sedated in it, not her best performance. It's best to go into this movie without knowing anything about it, read up too much about it and you'll get the surprises spoiled.
For a long time while watching I was wondering if the mystery going on here involved supernatural elements or not, and it takes quite a while before you find out. The twist at that point is pretty original and goes down a dark, scary place where some viewers will get the heebie-jeebies for reasons I won't spoil here. Far scarier than the umpteenth haunted house story if you ask me. But there are more surprises yet, with a nicely done final reveal at the end. This movie is also interesting in the sense of how quickly your allegiances will shift. You'll go from loathing characters to rooting for them and vice versa. Special mention goes out to the creepy soundtrack, it adds to the mood in a big way.
This movie isn't brilliant or anything, but I was seriously creeped out and more than a little disturbed, so it worked for me. 8/10
