I will agree that the writing went downhill in Westworld, starting in s2, but more noticeably in s3. I still found it very compelling and watched the whole thing right to the end, and I'm glad I did. I won't tell you why.

I am not going through the whole thread to check. Anybody discussed "Dear White People" on Netflix?

There's this little thing over to the right that says "Search Thread."

Ooh! I never noticed that! Since when has that been there?

Pretty much the beginning of times... :D
I've watched Dear White People the movie when it came out... I haven't checked out the TV show, as I thought the movie did a great job at telling its story and at the time, the idea of making it a series felt like milking it for TV... (Which I fully admit might be unfair.)

I'm watching Norwegian TV-production (
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt8332130/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1)
Beforeigners (on HBO), a mix of detective and historical drama about people migrating through time, from different eras, and ending up in our times. Language is an important part of it and it's great to hear people speak some Old Norse for a change (even if they, assumedly, had to wing the pronunciation a bit, although, from what I've read, the creators put in the research to make it sound as genuine as possible). Not without bits of comedy even if the main focus is on the drama.

I saw a trailer for this that looked absolutely trashy, but possibly the fun kind of trash. :p
We just finished the first season of
Justified. I wasn't really on board at the beginning - it felt bland and uninteresting, though with the occasional glimpse of charm - but the way the season develops it manages to make its characters quite a bit more interesting than they seem at first. Definitely curious to see how it continues to develop in S2, though we will probably take a bit of a break and watch something else first. One of the series I'm hoping to watch very soon is
The Plot Against America.

It is the fun kind. Charming. I like it. To each their own, though -- and by that I of course mean that it's a Scandinavian thing that you domesticated scrofas are too refined to understand. :p
Also, are trailers ever good? I for the most part avoid them.
Edit:
And now I've watched all six episodes, hoping for more to come.

I thought S2 had some excellent episodes. Like the one done from the American Indian's perspective. I was totally rooting for the humans in it though, and got pissed every time they'd go down in 2 seconds in a fire fight. You would think they would have at least a few troops who knew actual good weapons training, but nope.
S3 was interesting, but more like something out of the Ghost in the Shell anime. I liked it more in the actual Westworld park. First few episodes of S3 I liked, as I'd not seen a live action cyberpunk setting done on TV before that wasn't anime.
Well, no, don't get me wrong. I thoroughly enjoyed Westworld s2 and s3. Several interesting bits, but the writing seemed to lose focus, more as if the writer was on drugs, or wanted to make you feel as if you were. I did not enjoy that. But the different perspectives, yes, I enjoyed.
