I'm in a similar spot, I got three years warranty (the car is 8 months old) and I got a five-year plan but with the new job I'm hoping I'll have it licked in three.
I loved my old car and it will always have a special spot in my heart but this one is another dimension. Automatic, sunroof, hifi package and all the level 2 drive assist gizmos... I tried it on the highway and while obviously you have to keep your hands on the wheel the car drives and maintains distances etc. by itself, it's uncanny... for someone who's at best known regular cruise control, it's like being in a scifi movie :D

I haven't driven a car in I think 10 years now. There's just no need to in Tokyo. It's kind of sad since driving was one of my passions in Texas, where it's indispensable. I loved driving really fast down the highways late at night with some kind of eletronica throbbing on the radio.
It's probably better I'm doing that in video games these days anyway though, where it's not such a big deal if I take a quick shortcut over a sidewalk and smack a pedestrian into the air or rip into a tight so turn that I slam into the occasional concrete barrier. Not to mention I'm possibly irreparably confused about whether I should be driving on the left or right side of the road anymore.

Nobody expects the variable transmission?

Here in Europe it's
deluxe! :p And I still have the paddles and manual mode if I'm feeling sporty ;)

Drive what you like! I feel naked without 3 pedals for some reason, even though I rarely use the clutch in racing sims and don't even have an h-shifter anymore. I think part of it is that I decided about 5 years ago to stop smoking in my cars, and I might be tempted to without the focus you need to drive a manual.
Just got back from the tire shop to get some Michelin all season 4's. Yesterday when I picked my car up it was 70F outside, when i left work later it was 35F. The first mile of driving home on the Dunlop summer tires felt like driving on ice, it was terrible. I thought I was in Grand Prix Legends again or something.

Don't want to hijack this thread with car shit, but I didn't know where else to post this. This dashcam is garbage.

Interesting seeing your neck of the woods. The landscape and houses look a lot like in Finland, except more hilly.

The areas around Pittsburgh are weird. Where I live used to be nothing but farms, now there are tons of developments and strip malls and whatever, but it still has an almost rural feeling. I live maybe 13 miles from the city proper, I almost wish I could have been around before the post-steel exodus because it's kind of hard to understand how you had a fairly large industrial city with everything around it being so rural.
I really want to visit Finland at some point, but I'm getting to that age where it may not happen. It seems like an amazing place to live.
