What happened to like over half the main characters from the original?

They don't even talk about Jaime Reyes, Alex Jacobson, Samuel Carter, Morgan Everett, and other main characters, at all, not even once. That is so lame.

Sam Carter's name does appear in a data cube in UNATCO HQ, some kind of invoice/receipt for Gunther's skull gun. I am a little surprised that Morgan Everett isn't mentioned by Chad or Nicollete. But I'm not surprised that the other UNATCO characters (Sam, Jaime, Alex, Gunther, Anna, Manderley) aren't mentioned since JC and Paul are the only IW characters with a connection to UNATCO.

Yeah but they should have been alive and helping JC, or they should have had their deaths explained on a datacube.

Simple. Alex was killed by the console police to avoid people getting confused when two characters had the same name. Sam, Jaime and Morgan went into hiding and developed an "Out-of-character" nanovirus to use on Chad and Nico.
