And does anyone really open-up their firewalls for that Garrett Loader?
tiger,GL sends no personal information other than a system generated GUID (globally unique id) which effectively has no meaning but is never going to be the same as anyone elses. Its made up of an algorythum of your mac address and data and time stamps. GL uses this to stop people uploading scores for the same FM multiple times. Other than that it only sends FM zip names, FM names and your score. It downloads web pages of compiled FM lists, scores and forum thread links, also lists of loot lists (giving the ability to download and install them also), lists of custom game reference files (giving you the oppotunity to then download and install them as well).
It also uses an internet connection to determine if your favourite FM download site has been updated (like the auto scores download the FM check can be disabled in the tweaks tool, its disabled by default). If you want to put a packet tracer on it you are welcome to, there is nothing to hide.

GarrettLoader allows you to download community voting tabulations, and upload your votes/scores to the database, so it has legit internet connection needs. I believe plans are (or already in place?) for it to also send error reports on problems so that the they can get fixed for future versions.
The error sending is not currently in place, I am working on it for the next version, although its likely to have limited functionallity as I am working more on resolving any issues on initial startup, although the debug console will allow you to view and then send up an status report.
