Does enemy faction still tries to attack and capture key points after it's officially "wiped out" by your faction? If they just respawn at their base and permanently stay there it's fully OK to me. In that case you just have to avoid a certain small area on map.

There's fighting between the Bandits and the Dutyers/Stalkers holding the checkpoint to Agroprom, Duty have a mission for me to take it back. Other than that, they're pretty much staying in their HQ. I'm still with the Stalkers and I've got the mission to take out their HQ. Again.

Trying to join Bandits ;)
A tip: if you need money, the easy way to make some 5.000-20.000Ru is to take grenades, 9x18mm and 12 gauge ammo along with you, and return to Swamp - lots of easy "bring me some ammo" quests which are rewarded generously will reappear there even if you already accomplished them when you were there in the beginning.

did anyone get to really take a faction to dominate a whole map ?
As far as I've read you can't. A few people claimed to have wiped out all of the bandits, but I just tried and had eliminated every red bandit circle showing on my PDA and low and behold the second I walked out of Garbage they were spawning back in the Depot again. And the other factions definitely cannot be wiped out at this point. I'm confident the modders will clean up the crappy faction play and get the game into shape eventually though. In the meantime its best to just ignore it as much as you can.
I joined the STALKER faction and am going to play nice to both Freedom and Duty like I did in SoC, because having either one of them pissed off makes things much more of a hassle I think. I'll probably go back and play out each of their missions some other time when I get bored though.

It's worth staying on the good side of as many factions as possible just for the flash drive missions. There's ~30k per faction in it for you if you keep them friendly.

Check this. I posted this in other thread:
And at last I managed to evict Bandits out of Hangar in Garbage, so they won't respawn there anymore. I found out that while at least one NPC team (or player) stays at some respawn point, respawn there is stopped. So to stop respawn at a faction's base,
you need your faction team to take over the base. And they won't do it until in-between outposts in their way are under their control. You may capture the base yourself, but there is no guarantee your comrades will come to occupy the area. First
you need to provide their pass by capturing outposts in their way.
So, if f.e. you joined Stalkers, and PDA map shows a group from Agroprom going to attack Bandits base (hangar), but two outposts at Agroprom-Garbage transition point are occupied by either Freedom or Duty, Stalkers will never come without your help. Freedom and Duty are neutrals for Stalkers, so Stalkers won't attack the outposts, and without capturing the outposts they won't attack the hangar.
PS: You don't need to eliminate all bandits, you need only to
properly capture Hangar (Depot) to stop their respawn. I wish devs described that in the tips or manual, instead we are left to figure out mechanics behind fraction wars ourselves.

I've wiped out the Bandits in the hangar and when I left there were a couple of Stalkers there (One was a guide, the other just and average joe). Half an hour later the Bandits were back. All the checkpoints were under Stalker control and it still didn't stop them from respawing.

Strange, I'm in the Dark Valley for 3 days already and my team mates still stay in the Depot, Bandits don't respawn...
