Given the fact that Tracer Tong is alive, and that it says that JC will either be a mentor or an enemy pretty much seems to leave all 3 pretty much open. But I personally don't think the Tracer Tong dark age was taken. With JC going either way he could be working for the illuminati, or he could be merged. Perhaps Tracer Tong is trying to get Alex to finish what JC wouldn't. Because UNATCO or whoever Alex is working for seems to have power and financing. So I doubt a dark age would be able to be swept away in 20 years. I'd like the see the merged ending take place, I really liked the voices of the AI and they were very omnipotent with their simple solutions sometimes puzzling the characters.
What's everyone elses thoughts on this one?

That of Illuminism, for it leaves intact a structure similar to the original.

If JC is my enemy, then i would hope for the Fusion ending. But if JC is just a guy who i meet in the game, then Illuminati. and if he is my mentor, then i am not sure.
either way, i want to be working with Tong to get the Dark Age working. out of all the characters in the game, there were 2 who i actually trusted. I would have trusted Jock with my life. in fact, i would go out of my way to save him. And Tracer Tong. of course, i never fully trusted Tong. but i would go out of my way to help and rescue him.

What about Paul?
one_gundam_war on 16/7/2002 at 02:19
at the start i trusted Paul because he was JC's brother. but when i found out he was NSF, he could go to hell for all i care. i understand why he would not tell me. but i also understand this means he is not incredibly loyal (lol. i should talk. killing my 2 partners and all 3 of my bosses)
Dragonclaw on 16/7/2002 at 22:19
I trusted Paul.
I guessed he'd work for the NSF in some way (or just be a really peaceful guy), and that actually helped him.
I mean, in the office, there are all those "Kill them, smash them, no mercy"-people. They hate the NSF, and see it as their arch-enemies. Then there's Paul, who has a rather peaceful approach. Not killing, only stunning. Sneaking away. Non-lethal.
He's got ethics. And that's what made me trust him...

I hafta admit that I didn't think for long about which ending to pick - I just saved and played all three, because I wanted to see all three.
If I had to choose, I'd take the Helios one.

I don't think they chose ANY of the endings.
Call me crazy, but I can't shake the feeling that Ion Storm has something interesting up their sleeve regarding this. Each of the endings has their own merits, none of them is necessarily the best, and I don't see Ion Storm picking one of them over the other two.
As for what they WILL do, I have no idea... perhaps they'll try to incorporate parts from all three endings into it... or take off from a fourth ending that wasn't even in DX1... or perhaps the question will just never come up. I don't know.

How crap would it be if they made Deus Ex like Final Fantasy? A different story each time would be such a bad idea.

I don't think it matters which ending was taken since you don't play as JC. I just read in a magazine that JC is missing throughout the game. You might get some sort of explanation of what happened in the first game. And judging from the screenshots, the dark ages never came.
