Are you saying it was hamfisted to replace the actress or the way it was explained in the movie? Because, IIRC, they had to replace, short of cutting the character, as the original actress died. OK, the movie's explanation amounted to 'whatever'.

The way it was handled in the movie, naturally.
Of course, I personally think an Oracle could have somehow foretold her own death and avoided it, I mean, come on.
