Good Omens is bloody hilarious... the twists and jabs at Omen had me in stitches. Pratchett and Gaiman ought to collaborate on more stuff.

Watchmen.
Next up, The Secret Scripture.
Also, do you realize that 20% of your posts are new threads?
You're not that interesting, yet.
It's a relief to know someone is monitoring my progress. By the way, I used to post here around 1998 but took a long hiatus away from games, so I guess that makes you my inferior. But seriously now, what's with the bitterness? Am I cluttering your precious brainwaves? It's not like I'm trying to sell products on this site or some such fuckery.

Last week I finished
The Sun Also Rises for the second time, and it might well be the best novel I've ever read.
I think For Whom the Bell Tolls is better. My great uncle knew and worked with Hemingway. Said he was a bloody liar.

Currently reading Salman Rushdie's
The Enchantress of Florence.
I can't stand that guy.

I'm still trudging through the Iliad - 3 months after I started. I'd probably get through more books if I spent less time reading porn online.
What translation are you using? That matters a lot.... the best modern ones are Fitzgerald and Fagles.
Has no one read Samuel Beckett's Trilogy?

Rushdie can't write for shit.
Reading this, (
http://www.amazon.com/Shake-Hands-Devil-Failure-Humanity/dp/0786714875)
It will make your eyes bleed, it is one thing to know what happened but hearing it from someone who actually saw it.... most depressing book I read since
Kings Leopold's Ghost. Disgusting.

Thank you for that well considered, differentiated statement. It has opened my eyes to the utter suck that is Rushdie. I owe you big time.
The Dallaire book sounds fascinating (in a depressing-as-hell way).

Well that is close, you could have said I suck.

I think For Whom the Bell Tolls is better.
If by better you mean that it portrays human interaction and the internal conflict between how one actually lives one's life and how they feel they ought to live it with an even
greater poignancy and understanding than Sun Also Rises, then I suppose I'd agree.
Actually I haven't read it, but it's on my list, along with The Old Man and The Sea.

I just finished Dune for the first time. I don't know how I managed to not read it before.
Fringe on 29/10/2008 at 20:38
Just don't read any of the sequels or prequels.
