i was wondering what the grunts look like that accompany which ever ship is on her maiden voyage or what ever. The reason i'd like to know, is because i want to make some high res 3d fan art of the UNN grunts. And while i'm here asking questions, which ship is the military one and which one is the one that they were testing?. is the bit where you choose your class the military one?

You haven't actually played SS2, have you? Or even watched the (
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MXPn6wcsUmk) introductory video, which clearly identifies both ships.

It's like a holiday camp, minus the holidays, plus dying.

well yes i have played it, I'm halfway through playing it again. i don't see what the big deal is, I'd prefer to spend my time working on my projects rather than going through the games contents for stuff i missed. i don't need to go past a forum for an easy to answer question. and you answering questions equals some fan art eye candy :P\
i will have to look into all of this more thoroughly i guess.

What I posted was concept art, not fan art.

i know, i already had all the concept art from both systemshock.com and from that site you just showed me. thanks anyway though, you pointed out what i needed to know. btw, i finished the uv mapping for the guy (surprisingly quickly) and I'm onto making a high model for the displacement map in zbrush.
i might post a picture of it when I've done the high res model.
btw, with EA games (who btw won't answer when i asked them what i was to avoid in remaking parts of ss2 <if i can. NOT DEFINITE, STEP AWAY FROM THE SPAM>) so I'll just have to wait some more. same thing with 2k's Australian producer I'm afraid. i was thinking, what if i changed the names of everything, like shodan to modan. then you could apply a patch that put everything back in it's right context (which i wouldn't make, I'd get someone else to do it so my arse would be covered) and like, media patches where you have to have a copy of ss2, and you get this installer which finds the ss2 files and moves it all into my doom 3 mod XD. well let's hope it doesn't come to that :) but i would rather have that, than some arse tearing me away from my work. in any case, fans of ss2 (who also owned doom 3) could experience it and I'd have something to show on my portfolio.
plus i could impress 2k Aus and ask for a job some day :P but not now, I'm only 16 XD btw, don't let my age put you off, I've had 4-5 years experience. I'm handy with 3ds max, zbrush and photoshop and am very good at art. I'm not like your average 16 year old, so don't think I'm not ready for another mod.

I'd like to differ on that. But then it's the god-given right of all 16-year-olds of all times to believe their coming will change everything.
So no offense, just this: Actions speak louder than words.
