I started on the newest Witcher book released just recently, Sezon Burz ("The Season of Thunders"). So far, it feels nice to back in the Witcher lore and Sapkowski's writing is witty as ever. Tho, Geralt feels a bit more carefree and sarcastic than in previous books, but I haven't quite pinned when in this overall story (games excluded) this is supposed to be happening yet.

Perhaps some US citizen can help me. My current 'reading in the bath' book has a short conversation. I don't understand the reference to Bush. Anyone know?
Person 1 (Italian): "You know, we try to like you"
Person 2 (US): "Don't try . . . No-one else does"
Person 1 (Italian): "I've never understood why you Americans are so loud"
Person 3 (US) "Because we don't listen . . . That's why we have George Bush"

It is supposed to be a joke and it is not very good. Take it at face value. GB was elected because no one listened to his detractors (or his own words for that matter)... BTW - Italians are far louder than Americans. ;)

"Deceptions and Myths of the Bible” by Lloyd M. Graham. I load of horse shit that is fun to read, at least in part. Some of it is true. It's a tome to pagan cosmology though. Its science is lacking, yet pretty interesting. It was not a big seller. I found it at one of those dollar book stores many years ago.
It makes claims like, “Moses is fashioned after the Syrian Mises; the laws after Hammurabi's code...” I already knew about "The Epic of Gilgamesh” being nearly identical to the Ark/Noah story. He expands on that and claims “equivalents in a score of Deluge myths”.
Just like “Ancient Aliens” I like to hear the alternative interpretations, but I do not agree with the conclusions.

Thanks, bjack. I don't think it was supposed to be funny. It's an American author, by the way, not a rabid European. :)

People wouldn't talk like that today because compared to the average Republican politician today Bush I is a marvel of intelligence and dignity. I wish the Reps of today shared his distrust of "the vision thing," since having a crazy dogma is what got them in trouble.

I just finished re-reading Blindsight a few weeks ago and am currently reading the sequel, Echopraxia. That's a solid book but be warned, it's dense and depressing. I would love to hear your thoughts when you're done with it.

I am currently reading Stephen King´s Last stand. Pretty interesting and well written like most Stephen King books.

I just started Jim Harrison's, Returning to Earth, and I keep asking myself, why did I wait until after his death to crack open a Jim Harrison book? Holy shit, what a writer!
