$79.99 Canadian, that is, which is what all Nintendo games cost here now and until the end of time. I still buy them anyway occasionally, but I think their pricing model is flawed; if it were $50 or $60 I would buy so many more.

For me, 2021 was about banner lord, Kenshi, and rim world. Bannerlord was a shock to me, the vids I saw on youtube made it seem very difficult etc etc, I found it much easier than mount and blade and thus spend much fewer hours on it until I got bored. There were only a few battles where I really had to sit and think how to position troops - mostly with horse archer races and those I enjoyed very much.
Kenshi was sort of fun in the beginning but once you have a strong set of characters the game starts getting pointless as you are to op, I feel like it wasn't finished or balanced.
Rimworld however has been a ton of fun. The first playthrough was base with no mods it was really great so many ways to do the same thing. The modding community there I think has really helped prolong the life of the game, I love the battle mechanics of this game however you just don't really get to fight too much. Then I saw rimwar where the fame takes on a sandbox tactical role much like mount and blade without losing all the little details of managing pawns.

Dunno about the music, I didn't listen that closely.
It is composed by Motoi Sakuraba, who apparently also did the music for Mario Golf 64, my favourite, and -- I had no idea -- the entire Dark Souls trilogy. So, um, that's pretty cool. I took a (

Tales of Vesperia
Ok so here's the situation.
Me and the princess (because of course there would be a princess) are going on a globe trotting adventure to find some guy Flynn. We run into a kid, so of course we let the kid join our party. We find a city around a giant magical tree. The tree is protecting the city (magic) but is now dying. So we decide to take a break from our actual quest, to save this random tree. And turns out the 13 year old child knows how to save it. But no one believes him, because he's a 13 years old child. So naturally, we believe him. Now we're going back to the forest to find some ingredients to make an elixir to heal this tree
(also one of our party members is a dog that smokes a pipe)
Half an hour later, we get the 2 ingredients to make the elixir BUT we still need a flower petal that only the city mayor has. It's a very rare flower petal, and the mayor only has 1 left. So he gives it to us.
Now as a comparison imagine this: a group of 3 foreigners go up to president Biden and say:
"Listen that big bad oil spill, we can fix it, we just need all of your remaining COVID vaccines. You can trust us, we have a 13 year old child that attested to this."
So, naturally, Biden goes: "That sounds reasonable. Here's all our remaining vaccines."
So we got the final ingredient, we make the elixir, we put it on the village tree and-
PLOT TWIST
It didn't do SHIT! The fucking kid LIED. I knew we shouldn't have trusted a 13 year old child.
BUT WAIT
Now the princess did a prayer, some magic bullshit happened, and the tree is healed!
The village rejoices. Quest completed.
Now, as another point of comparison, imagine Kamala Harris going to Columbine High school, putting her hand on a 11th grader forehead and BAM - no more school shootings.
Ladies and gentlemen, Tales of Vesperia.

CAD $79.99 for Mario Golf? Seriously?
The 1980's Golf is legendary, but every follow-up from Nintendo has been kind of disappointing. I can't see charging AAA money for just six (?) cartoony courses to play with your favorite Nintendo characters. You can get PGA Tour 2K21 for less than half of that, with twice as many courses, re-creations of real world courses, and a course designer.
Some of Nintendo's franchises offer a lot of gameplay for the money, like the Super Mario Bros games. But the Mario Golf franchise is a weaker effort.

CAD $79.99 for every first-party Nintendo game that isn't Captain Toad. Occasionally they go on sale for $10 off, and Mario Maker even gets down to $50 once in a while, but otherwise those are the prices, full stop.
Meanwhile I dug up my old 3DS and have been playing Mario 3D Land and the old Wario Land Game Boy games. I was going to sell the 3DS at one point, but I'm glad I didn't. I can finally play Luigi's Mansion, and I have Pilotwings Resort (which has an (
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wSHfGFSFHnA) amazing soundtrack) and New Super Mario Bros 2 in the mail, 15 bucks apiece.
Any 3DS recommendations? After Paper Mario I'm thinking I should try Superstar Saga, but after that I'm out of ideas. Already played all the Zeldas/Mario platformers.

The ads in Tokyo are advertising Mario Golf with these old salarymen in the forefront getting into a stance, looking like serious golfers, along with apparently their adult sons laughing along, as if it were one of those premium PGA tournament golf games. That's evidently where they get off charging something like that.

Pig you should check out that Pilotwings soundtrack. I think it's up your alley.
