They seem too much for me. I'm not sure I could complete one.

I sort of like the Assassin's Creed games, but once I've finished one, I never feel like starting another for a year or two. The last one that I played was AC: Syndicate earlier this year, the next one will probably be Origins some time in the future...

I started the first one, on PS3, but it seemed that the first few targets for assassination couldn't be assassinated and getting close triggered a cutscene each time. It irritated me, though the gaming environment was kind of cool. I imagine the later ones have evolved a lot. I never got the plot.

I never really cared about the first AC, not even when it was still relatively new. It looked fantastic, but the actual gameplay was so damn grindy and shallow. The plot wasn't much better, not that I remember much of it anymore. AC2 on the other hand was a big improvement in just about every way, I really liked that one. The newer games in the series are still basically the same, but they've added some more bells and whistles a little by little over the years. I still don't get the plot, but the cities in these games always look nice and the action is fun for a while, so I'd recommend that you give one of the newer games a chance some time. It probably still won't be your cup of tea, but at least you'll know then that none of the AC games are your cup of tea.

RDR2. I heard it is slow. I played 2 hours and indeed it seems slow. Might be a good game for me.
SubJeff on 17/12/2020 at 22:31
Is the plot any good? I have it but haven't really started it. I'm hungry for good gameplay and a good story.
Gryzemuis on 17/12/2020 at 22:42
Are you asking me about RDR2? I don't know. I just started playing. I like slow games. I like huge game worlds. I like drifting and roaming the lands. I prefer horses over cars. I also prefer swords over guns or ranged magic, but alas. I also enjoy good graphics. All reasons why Im trying RDR2. I have no idea about plot. Except maybe when I was googling a bit, it seems some gamers complain RDR2 has too much story and immersion, and not enough gameplay (read: shooting people).
I think quite a few here have played RDR2, I'm sure they can tell us.

@SubJeff
Personally, I thought the story in RDR2 was superb. Yes, the story missions were aggravatingly linear and restricted (as is Rockstar's wont), but that didn't stop me being completely absorbed by the story and characters.
As far as I'm concerned, it features the very best voice acting of any game up until this point. Dutch and Micah are absolutely infuriating, and this is testament to the work done by the voice actors, writers and animators / modellers.
It's also an incredibly human story, feeling miles apart from the mean-spirited, misanthropic bent of GTAV.
And @Gryzemuis, it is indeed slow; delightfully so. Outside of story missions, there's nothing stopping you wandering off into the wilderness and spending some time just moseying at your own pace.

Just Cause 2 - It was on a big sale and I heard all about it, so gave it a shot. Got thru the tutorial night mission which was... much jankier than the video's of the game led me to believe. Then I got to the part where you climb 2 huge towards to rescue a dude (fun) followed by a mission where you have to jump on cars to protect the dude in a chase. I think I tried it 3 times and lost each time. Something about it feels janky enough that's making it hard to play this section, and I dread re-starting from the start again. Haven't been motivated to try it again.
If it's the mission I'm thinking of, you should stick with the dude in his car and tether enemy vehicles to each other or the ground instead.

Thanks, might try it if I jump back into it!
