Ok I have now played 3.2 hours of Art of Rally. I pretty much agree with what Tomi and dema are saying. It's fun, but also a bit on the easy side. I'm also playing on second hardest difficulty. Stability assist at 0%, ABS at 50%. Winning most races. I like the minimalism, and cutting out some features: there's no car-tuning before races, just the occasional repair-screen, tho I've barely had to do any repairs besides washing my car. The free roam mode where you get to drive around and look for collectibles is neat too. I've got the speedvan, but no log truck yet. Yes, I am excited about getting that log truck.

I may get things thrown at me for saying this, but I kinda wish that SOMA was closer to A Machine for Pigs: i.e. more of a walking sim. I love the game's sense of place and atmosphere, but it's usually when there's gameplay (less so with the puzzles, more so with the enemies) that it gets decidedly weaker. I'm finding the game scary when I'm in no danger whatsoever; the dangerous bits are frustrating more than anything else. I definitely understand why they introduced the safe mode.

Yeh i kinda bounced off SOMA somewhat, more of a walking sim and less of an "interactive" experience would be my preference as well.

Gameplay has never been Fractional Games' strong point, to be fair.

I've been playing a lot of Overcooked with my GF so we picked up got Moving Out yesterday and after about an hour I'm done. I'm finding the controls super frustrating; I can't exactly put my finger on it, but it just feels like 1 in 5 times the character doesn't move the way you'd expect. Sometimes he runs pushing item in front, sometimes he moves pulling it behind, and there doesn't seem to be a clear rhyme or reason. This makes trying to arrange items on the truck just utterly fucking annoying as I push and pull shit around hoping it will get to where I want it to be. Throwing items is also a crap shoot since the shar top-down perspective makes it hard to tell vertical height - so you never know if something will actually go above other things or get stuck.
Secondly, I feel the game just lacks verity. We got thru like 5-6 levels and it just feels like we're playing the same level. The furniture pieces are all the same, the levels all look the same, the layout changes but it doesn't really affect how the game plays. We got the "fragile boxes" now but they're not so much a gameplay mechanic and just limiting what you can already do - you already run with boxes 90% of the time, so now you just can't throw them. Uuh cool. Last level we got to has a house that has a 2nd floor, but because of the top down camera it's really hard to tell perspective, so the 2nd floor effectively doesn't matter.
I was really hoping it'd be the next Overcooked for us and pretty disappointed :/

This game plays as good as it looks, folks. Halfway through group 4 now. :)

Yeah, art of rally does look awesome. Too bad you never have time to admire the view while you're driving. :)
Also, is it just me or does the gravity feel a bit off? In the big jumps especially the cars are more like floating through the air rather than just jumping. I can't explain it any better, but there's something that doesn't feel quite right. It's like the cars are just toy cars. Can't complain about the driving in general though, they've really nailed so many aspects of it. The roads often feel a bit flat I think - even driving on gravel doesn't feel like it, there should be those little bumps on the road and small rocks flying, etc.

Done with SOMA. There's a lot I liked about this, but IMO the ending is very much undermined by the same moment essentially having happened once already and we just witness it from the other perspective. At the very least it makes Simon look like a bit of an idiot. More of an idiot, that is. Other than the enemies, for me it's Simon and the way he's written that keeps the game from being as good as it could be.
In the meantime, I'm also doing the occasional Hades run and playing on in AC Odyssey in parallel. There's some absolute killer variants for the Infernal Arms, and it's fun to play around with them and with different combinations of boons. And Odyssey is reasonably fun in small portions, though I'm sure I'll grow tired of it way before I get to the end of the DLC.

I'm finally playing Neon Struct: simple fun and a nice distraction after all the highly involved point & click adventures.

I've been playing a decent amount of Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition lately. I have some nostalgia for AoE2, even though it wasnt my RTS of choice back then (I spent more time playing Tiberian Sun, Red Alert & StarCraft). The Definitive Edition satisfies my current urges for RTS gaming and it plays like I remember AoE2 playing. My only real gripe is the new Power Point style menu they added with the Anniversary Update, but I did find a mod to fix that.
