Finally managed to beat Hades, which wasn't really that much fun, since you have to beat him twice, which is a slog. But when you get past him, you learn that you'll have to beat the whole game several times more to get any kind of story closure. It does tie back to the lore and it's good writing, but considering how hard and epilepsy-inducing the game is, that's a big fuck no from me. I already sunk over 30 hours into it, and while I love the story and the characters, it's too much of an investment for me.

A game I will definitely not be playing is Torchlight 3. It popped up on my Steam recommendations, but on a closer look it seems to be a rebranded free to play mobile MMO that went by the name of Torchlight Frontiers and apparently was quite the flop. The so-called Torchlight 3, though, comes with a hefty price tag.

Finished a first play through of Hades, with one of my least favourite weapons, the bow. (And also, some claim, during a Skype meeting I was expected to attend that literally had nothing whatsoever on the agenda that was in any way relevant to me.)

Just played through this game where you're a robot arm on a skateboard.

Really fun. Highly recommended if you're into physics-based arcade games! :thumb:

Getting them all to work with modern source ports or vanilla Doom even was like trying to get an old DOS game to work with Windows 10. Why? Because they were created in 32 bit Windows 95, with a customised version of Boom (one of the first source ports released). So they flat out don't work anymore in modern Windows. Luckily back in 2015 someone over on the Doomworld forums ported them all over to ZDoom. Once I downloaded those - All good worked perfect without issue from then on. So be going through all of them soon. Looking forward to it :).
Could you please give the download links? Cheers.
EDIT:
Found 'em.

Been playing/testing the Beta for (
https://store.steampowered.com/app/964800/Prodeus/) Prodeus and did a video about it. The first 14min is me talking about my experiences / impressions (with some visual examples) and then the rest of it is an unfiltered gameplay from the level available in the build.

With my play through of Doom Eternal nearing its end, felt like some old school Doom mod action. To that end, downloaded all the old Wolfendoom TCs.

Gave up on and uninstalled Desperados 3. I dunno man. I loved Shadow Tactics but I'm just not feeling this one. Might also be because I'm playing it on PS4. The gamepad controls are... fine, but they definitely feel clunkier than M+KB.
Instead I started playing Gears Tactics, since it's in the XBox game pass, and it is surprisingly good. Very XCOM esque, but slightly less rigidly tile-based. Also less inbetween-mission-faffing-around, which I appreciate.

I kickstarted
War of Rights and have only just jumped in to check it out, and I'm enjoying its immersive line battles. Looks beautiful in CryEngine too.
It's got some interesting mechanics incentivising teamwork. If you're in formation you get a bunch of buffs to stuff like weapon accuracy, and if you die you cost the team fewer tickets, so even the public servers work reasonably well. Respawning is mostly done on flagbearers, so if they go down you'll have people shouting at randomers to pick the flag up and keep going.

You can hear the enemy talking, so there's often a bit of banter during melee charges, and now I know what a 20 person bayonet charge where everyone makes gorilla noises sounds like.
Sometimes the commanders send out scouts to check on enemy positions while the formation holds. In the picture below, you can see the scout returning, and because it took place in heavy woodland, he was able to get close enough to overhear the enemy commander giving orders, so then our commander reacted to that. I thought that kind of thing was neat!

Is there enough variety to keep it interesting throughout the entire game? My main issue with the previous Doom game was that it was a lot of fun for the first 5-6 hours or so but became very repetitive after around 2/3 of the way in. The boss fights were cool and all but so much of the game was a real sludge to push through.
