When I use it, it just seems to zoom in slightly more than using it without a scope, rather than switch to a crosshair view.
Generally, a click of the right mouse button will bring up the scope, while holding it down will zoom your view without entering scope mode.

Also, some guns have multiple view modes (e.g. scope, iron sights). You can generally switch between those using Ctrl + Right Click.

Yeah, I'm not skipping around your videos to see freezes, icemann. Like I said, those are edge cases. The vast majority of people aren't experiencing that - and I've never had the game freeze on me ever. It could be any number of things going on with your configuration and not the game itself. The thread you linked asks people to switch to Vulkan, which is interesting because I thought DE uses Vulkan by default.

I think you're either responding to or mistaking the tone of my post for something that's not there. If you've got problems, that's too bad, but calling id software out for having 'dropped the ball' when the majority of everyone else playing the game is not facing those issues is more than a bit careless.
Sulphur on 7/10/2020 at 07:52
Yeah, you have opinions, but your blanket conclusion is clearly incorrect as a statement of fact (which it is presented as) because a) you've presented no evidence the game is malfunctioning in and of itself, b) no evidence that you've performed any checks to eliminate system/configuration issues, and c) the majority of users haven't had the same issues, so you're getting a response to that. Deal with it, or don't, as you will.

So I come back after a few hours and I have a wall of retroactive assertions as a response, including one that says it could be the game, could be anything else, but because it appears that way you're going to say their engine work has suffered, and all of this is a pat refusal to see why saying 'id dropped the ball' doesn't make sense in this context.
I was going to let your kiss-off speak for itself and move on, but then you went and added more. Good job, wunderkind.

Well, there is a Technical & Troubleshooting Arena section in the forums, why not use that? Since this is "what are you playing" thread, I'd rather read about that, and not about technical issues or iceman feeling self-important (again).

That looks pretty fun, and I feel like I may even own it from some bundle or something many years ago.
I've been playing Mario 3D All-Stars. Yeah, I know it's a ripoff, but I really wanted to play all three of these games again. Mario 64 is great as it ever was (although it does get a bit tedious near the end). I always loved Sunshine, but it's been pretty widely panned in the All-Stars reviews, so we'll see if it holds up (I predict: it will). And although I completed Galaxy back in the day, I never felt it was as good as its reputation. I'm feeling more generous about it now, though, so we'll see. We'll also see if I have the motivation to actually complete all three of these games in a row.
It is interesting to note that having been playing Mario Odyssey on and off for the past year, switching to Mario 64 actually doesn't feel like a big step backward, especially using a modern controller. Nintendo really nailed the movement in that game.

In the promotional material for Odyssey, Nintendo said they make two kinds of 3D Marios: exploratory ones like 64, Sunshine and Odyssey, and challenge-oriented ones like Galaxy 1/2 and 3D-Land. This raises the question of why there was such a long hiatus in exploratory releases between Sunshine and Odyssey, and I think it's because Nintendo didn't yet understand that part of 64's charm. You can see this lack in Odyssey: half the shines are based on exploring levels, but half are jarring cutaways to self-contained challenges. I think this is why Sunshine gets rated relatively low: it did not know what it wanted to be. I'll admit, the cutaways are often fun challenges (particularly the FLUDD-less ones), but it's disconcerting to go from "find out what things you can do in this place" to "find the place where you can do the thing."
...That's the kind of wording that summons MrDuck, isn't it.
