The world looks so good.
It makes me a little peeved that for DCS you have to buy every map separately, they're not even all that big, they're really expensive!, and they're unfortunately broken up in proximity of one another. So if you buy one you know they're never going to expand it to cover areas in another map, even if that leads to really ridiculous arrangements like the mess they're making of the English Channel and Iraq of all places. And for all that, the separate maps don't even look as good as MSFS looks covering the whole world. If only you could get the planes of DCS into the world of MSFS.

The planes of DCS in the world of MSFS with the dynamic campaign of Falcon BMS.

The old MSFS versions allowed for importing aircraft from Microsoft Combat Simulator into it but the guns didn't function. And you could import F-14's into MSCS which was super fun. So yeah, being able to port DCS aircraft to MSFS would be awesome but then none of the weapons would function.
Side note:
I'm still a fan of the old Jane's USAF combat sim. I played that for many hours and eventually attained the rank of a one star general and earned all of the medals. The game was notoriously buggy but still fun if you spent time reading through all the mission planning, making notes and swapping aircraft in your flight group at the appropriate times. There has been an update to that game a few years ago so you can play it on modern operating systems but I haven't tried it out yet because I need a new copy of the game.

My brother got me to try out Destiny 2 since it's one of the few multi-platform games out there that I know of. I'm not a fan. I don't like the repetitious battles to gain experience, weapons, etc. Cool graphics and stuff. though.

I finally finished my second play through of Thi4f! I had forgotten so much about the game, so I was both positively and negatively surprised about this experience. I'll write more about it later on the Thi4f forum (if I can be bothered)...
I also gave American Fugitive another try. It's like a modern version of 2D Grand Theft Auto with a lot of rednecks. Last time I played American Fugitive, I had just been playing Art of Rally (great driving game!), so it was the toy-like arcade driving model of the game that put me off. The driving still doesn't feel that great, but it's somewhat decent for a game like this. I played through the first chapter and got to a new part of the town, only to discover that everything looks the same and the missions are practically the same as well. So far it has also been so easy that it spoils a lot of the fun. American Fugitive has some good ideas and it can be quite fun at times, but I think I've had enough.
So I started playing A Plague Tale: Innocence. I really loved it at first. It's such a beautiful game, I like all the main characters and the 14th century France setting that feels rather authentic (to me), and as a father of two little kids there are some truly heart-wrenching moments in it. The gameplay reminds me a lot of a forgotten Frozenbyte classic called Shadwen, a game in which you try to stealth your way through a bunch of locations that are swarming with extremely dumb guards, while also trying to keep a little kid alive. Plague Tale is pretty much the same but it looks nicer. The stealthy gameplay is "stealth" at its most basic, it's all about making distractions for the dumb guards (by throwing stuff or interacting with certain objects) so that you can reach the next bunch of dumb guards, and you repeat that until you get to the end of the level. I'm a couple of hours in at chapter seven, and even though you get some new gadgets every now and then to spice things up a little, the actual gameplay is getting very repetitive by now. I feel that the story and the different locations that I get to visit are worth it though, so I think I'll try to endure this.

I have only played the demo on Xbox 1S. It's probably better on a PC since that is the way I'm used to playing it. I couldn't deal with the console game play in the demo.

I don't know what exactly is in the demo, but if it's just the first level of the game, then it is indeed pretty bad. Think of it as a tutorial. Trust me, the game does get at least a bit better later on. :D
However, there's no getting away from the "console game play" even then. When I first played Thi4f years ago I played it with KB+M, but I found out now that it feels so much better when played with a gamepad. Also, you should turn off all the unnecessary UI elements and objective markers, and all that.

Chapter 7 of Plague Tale is when they get to the castle, right? If so I'm sad to say you've pretty much seen the best bits of the game. The next stretch is a bit of a drag. The finale is truly epic tho. This is one of those weird games that I found a lot of flaws with yet somehow ended up playing through twice.
Tomi on 6/9/2022 at 14:53
Yeah, just got to the castle when I played a bit today. I liked this chapter a lot, it had a great balance between action and sightseeing.
Ah well, but I'll prepare myself for a borefest and an epic finale then. :D

Played two more chapters of Plague Tale today! I kind of liked the short and chill chapter eight at the castle. Kids in games can often be annoying as hell, but isn't Hugo just adorable? :D Every time he does something (exaggeratedly) child-like and innocent I go "awww", and then my heart sinks a bit when I remember that he's probably got a brain tumour or something, and I bet he's going to die in the end and everyone will be sad. (No spoilers please!)
The following chapter where Amicia goes to steal the book at the library wasn't bad either, actually. There are finally so many different tools to use that the "puzzles" aren't always totally obvious. They're not particularly difficult either of course, but they offer a nice little break from the action. There's something very satisfying about feeding some nasty guard to the rats...
Can't wait to see where the story goes from here!
