What is it with people and doors lately?
They haven't learned to walk through walls yet.

Didn't even know that, sorry for all the struggles :/ Is Orbiceptor your own title or is that contract work for someone else? I thought it was your own since you were posting it (and I was the annoying dude pointing out inane little issues in alpha ;D ).
thx for the plug, lol, but it didn't make that big of an impact tbh :p

Orbiceptor is mine. The contract work is something else entirely, back in my old wheelhouse of the pharmaceutical industry.

Details are always helpful. I'm even planning on making a non-rotating camera option just 'cause you had issues with it (and not knowing if it'd even help you - like, it's still in orbit and all). I like the current way the planet is always down, but it's just really easy to
not rotate it as an option, so why not.

I keep hearing old media is dead. Makes me sad. I don't like the new media, by-and-large.

What are your thoughts on quick saving? By "quick saving" I mean via for example a keyboard shortcut and being able to do it anywhere and without pausing the game.
I just finished coding version 2 of my save/load system and I've implemented pretty much all I want from one: manual saving via menu, auto saving after finishing important events, and quick saving (plus a few more esoteric things specific to how in-game travelling works, especially between worlds at the moment). Then I started thinking about "save-spamming", which is very much facilitated by being able to quick save. On the other hand, I want to allow experimentation (like for example trying what might be stupid things for maybe no other reason than to see what will happen), which is where quick saving comes in handy.
I have played games that I myself ruined a little by quicksaving too much and too often, which is why I'm thinking about it now. Should I leave it as it is, skip it, or maybe make it optional in the settings for those who can't stop, but want to? There's no technical benefit to skipping it, but it might have an effect on the player experience.
Edit:
While writing this post I realized it's probably best to leave the decision to the player and leave it as it is (making it optional might be confusing).

Well, how about a cooldown period for quicksaves? Sure, you can quicksave wherever, but once you do, you have to wait x amount of game time to quicksave again. That would limit spamming, and make its use more strategic.
Edit: Also, you could implement saving as an in-game mechanic. Like, in a magical/fantasy game, have saving be a spell you cast. Just one example.
