That and props and destructable architecture to run into.

Eidson? Oh my god is this game also set in the Karaski-verse? Looking forward to that prototype. :)
Anyway, yes, I am toiling away the Jetboots game. Trying to get the controls right. At the moment the character ends up doing backflips almost no matter what you do, and the control for the legs work in such a way that they impact not only the movement of the legs but the entire character. You can actually just hold up and the force of the legs moving upward will levitate the whole character, without the need for jetboots. That's no good! Gonna take a lot of work to get the physics robust and making this not-too-wonky-to-play.

What about adding arms that automatically spread out when you boost, and adding weight to them for counterbalance?

@henke, the approach that come to my mind is normalizing the action to a cerain band of movement that falls off as it approaches the extremes.
But I don't have a clear idea of the concept. In Stilt Fella there was a really clear idea of what makes progress and what's a failure, but I don't know what the failure is here. Is it still gravity driven, like you have to balance leaning forward without tipping over forward & face planting, or vice versa backwards?

Yeah, I've been thinking about something like that as well. As for the whole concept, I'm not really sure about that either. There is gravity, and simply making forward progress is difficult, but I think I'd like to make the character control more accessible in this one, while still being physics driven. I want to make it more of a regular platformer/action game with laser-shooting drones to fight and walls to kick down.

Hahaha!
I wouldn't be surprised if there is a genuine game along the same lines out there somewhere.

I still work on my System Shock themed Shadowrun UGC from time to time. It's just getting the motivation to work on it, which is the hard part.
Tell me about it, it only gets worse when it becomes your business :p
Didn't get to work on my side project today yet so, umm, here's a photo of me preparing and uploading a Steam build of Karaski :D
