while I dont particularly like John Mayers music, I gotta stand up for him here and say he is actually quite an accomplished blues guitarist, I mean the guy can PLAY.
Thirded. I'm not a fan of the guy and consider his radio hits to be an offense to modern civilization but John Mayer goddamn knows the blues. Anyone without the musical perspective to recognize that can be ignored when discussing all things blues.

The Young Gods - Knock on Wood. It's like having a musical hard-on. Which I'm having ftr (in Soviet Russia, your wood knocks on you).

Anybody who likes John Mayer is advised to check out Dax Riggs. His post-Acid Bath work is basically bluesy swamp rock. He can very easily be described as an evil John Mayer.

I've got right back into my Metal collection recently; possibly in preparation for the Bloodstock festival in August.
Anyway; Amorphis and their album Silent Waters has been replayed many times today - the song "Shaman" featuring highly on my list.
Oh, and Katatonia are fucking awesome; i cant believe I stopped listening to them...next up! Some Blind Guardian
