It's true that I haven't seen many large games mentioned on Kickstarter in a while, though I'm not quite sure what I think of Kickstarting games now.
The ones I've backed so far don't seem promising.
I was very disappointed in Divinity: Original Sin 2, am wary of Underworld Ascendant because I still hate the art style and the demo felt super-clunky, and, well, I never had that much hope for the System Shock remaster anyway.

I eventually ended up backing The Good Life, but one of the things that put me off in the first round was that some of the character archetypes were noticeably, culturally US ones, out of place in the English village setting.
However!
It looks like this may get fixed, as according to the latest update the team are starting to come over to the UK for (
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/476090608/the-good-life/posts/2223209) "England Research":
Quote:
England research confirmed! In the beginning of July, our art team will be the first group to head out on a research journey to England's Lake District! We'll fly in to Manchester, then rent a car and travel from there.
Main locales we plan to visit:
Windermere
Grasmere
Ambleside
Kendal
Near Sawrey
Kesewic
...and maybe a few others!
We plan to do research on England's rural towns, history, culture, food, clothing, and houses in order to deepen our understanding and ideas for The Good Life.
We're going to each put ourselves in Naomi's shoes and try to experience as much as possible before we return! We can't wait to see what sort of adventures we encounter!
Here's hoping for some kind of acknowledgement of Felicity Kendal, Penelope Keith, Richard Briers and Paul Eddington :D

Deary me. All of that's North England, but they don't intend on taking a page from Yorkshire? Ginnels inspired Silent Hill, didn'tcha know.

Whilst it may
seem I'm the only one posting about this, I know y'all are secretly playing it.
So this is entirely appropriate:

Just wanted to say that progress reports for Tangiers are starting to come in more frequently now. It all looks promising.

This looks potentially interesting:

It's an isomeric, turn-based, post-apocalyptic RPG inspired by Fallout, which sounds interesting on its own, and I'll admit I was surprised at how good it looks in the video (especially the graphics; I had been expecting it to be a low-fi sprite-based game from the description, which I read first on a news site.)

Personally, I'm more excited about Ben Chandler taking part. I think he has worked on some really great underrated games. It probably isn't doing too well because it's text-based, so they can't get the usual adventure game people to spread the word.

(
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/joshparnell/limit-theory-an-infinite-procedural-space-game/posts/2270873) Limit Theory has bitten the interstellar dust, sadly.
It's somewhat remarkable that it kept going for as long as it did, and the news is particularly sad when, after many extended wrong turns, it really did seem as if the technology was in a good place. I'm not hugely surprised, though -- the task ahead of him never seemed to shrink much over all those years, and I thought it was crazy-ambitious from the outset. I just hope he hasn't completely broken himself in the attempt.
