I was thinking about a game which I backed years ago called "The Mandate". It was going to be a very ambitious space RPG/strategy/management hybrid game with the troop combat + management of X-Com; the space RTS combat of Homeworld; and the character RPG'ing of a BioWare game like Mass Effect.
Googling it now, it appears that the game is dead. I found this article which was last updated in Feb 2018.

Seems the project lead is now working at Conan/Secret World developer Funcom. How shitty of them to just go dark instead of being transparent with backers, i.e. just flat-out say that the project is cancelled.

$700,000. Wow. I mean, not like Star Citizen wow, but still wow. And obviously insufficient to make X-Com+Homeworld+MassEffect, but should've been enough to make SOMETHING. I wish I'd hopped the Kickstarter bandwagon in 2013.

It's a grand thing indeed, Ice.

Kind of torn on this one. If it looked more like Exile, Nethergate, or Geneforge, I'd be in in a heartbeat, but after Avadon and all the remakes I'm not so sure.

I thought the newest Avernum games were great, and this sounds just as open, so I'm interested.

On the other hand, I found Avadon to be quite linear and simplified compared to the old Exile and Geneforge games. Let's hope he'll add more details about what the game will actually be like. Anyway, it's funded now.
