All the more reason I have never kickstarted anything. Which is all little weird as I am considering Kickstarter for my own projects in the future. Hopefully, I will not have the need to though...

That's kind of running scared though. Overall, I've had good luck with Kickstarter projects:
14 Total
5 missed their goal (Solarix, The Hum, The Old City, Outcast Reboot, Lemma). Of those, 3 ended up being released anyway (Solarix, The Old City, and Lemma). The other 2 are in Greenlight.
3 were released (7 Days to Die, Sir You Are Being Hunted, and The Long Dark).
4 have future release dates (Strafe, Underworld Ascendant, Pathologic, and Obduction). Of those, I'm fairly confident I'll get a game out of at least the last 3.
2 are overdue (Tangiers and Kona). Kona's release looks imminent.
My point is, I think if you pick your projects carefully, you're not going to get burned very often (not sure what the overall stats say though). The additional plus is that you're promoting game development for usually a fairly small price tag. Besides UA, which I pledged $75, all my other pledges are $25 or less.

I'll be disappointed if Tangiers falls through, but I won't regret having pledged to it. The game promised to be interesting and unique and the guy developing it deserved that chance IMO. That much is still true, even if there's a good chance it won't happen now, sadly.

Happened across this one at PAX last week. (
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/warlockks/fighting-fantasy-the-warlock-of-firetop-mountain/) Fighting Fantasy: The Warlock Of Firetop Mountain. Based off one of the Fighting Fantasy gamebook by Steve Jackson and Ian Livingstone.
Whilst I was WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY more into the Lone Wolf gamebooks than these, I still quite enjoyed the Fighting Fantasy gamebooks. AND most importantly, it's being done by aussie developers Tinman Games. Many of the staff there I saw frequently at IGDA (International Game Developers Association) meetings back when I was more active in trying to get into the games industry here in Australia.
So yeah. Whilst I dunno if I'd play the game, I might just back it as the Australian games industry needs ALL the help it can get right now.
Plus Fighting Fantasy is awesome.
Thanks. After seeing this I've decided to back this mainly for sentimental reasons to be honest but also to support this Aussie developer who has made some pretty good game story apps over the past few years. From memory the Warlock of Firetop Mountain was the second FF game that I purchased after getting the Citadel of Chaos. While WoFM isn't quite up to the level of some of the other FF games in the series I can understand why they have chosen that one based on its popularity. Still disappointed that Tin Man games never ended up converting The Talisman of Death though as they were apparently working on it at one stage.

Also backed CONSORTIUM. I wasn't all too impressed with the execution of the last game, but their design goals are really something I want to see in games, and they will certainly get better at making games as they go along. Plus it doesn't hurt that they give upgrades to original backers :)

That does look fantastic. I hope they can clean up the character design and animations a bit before release and we might have something special on our hands. How was their previous game? It seemed like such a novel concept when it was first announced but then it just vanished into oblivion. So many games like this, Satellite Reign, Stasis, etc... You hear about them a lot when they're announced but when they get released, nothing...

Yeah, it's on my list of Kickstarted games I should play one of these days... If I remember correctly, Malf really liked Satellite Reign too.
RPS has a post up about the Torment beta, and while it sounds like the game currently suffers from an obnoxious tutorial section (something that's very tricky to get right), it seems that Richard Cobbett is very happy with what he's seen of the main game. Definitely looking forward to that one - though I think I should try and play Pillars of Eternity beforehand, since I could imagine that PoE might feel a bit humdrum compared to Torment.

I backed Hyper Light Drifter, and that's it. Can't wait to see the finished product. I also wish I'd backed Night in the Woods and Rain World, but forgot to/couldn't be arsed at the time. They are shaping up nicely though.

* Moon Hunters (beta released a few days ago for all backers but I've yet to have a play)
I did give it a spin(thanks again for the extra key! :)). Plays much like the iOS game Wayward Souls, but even harder, and it has some pretty impressive emergent storytelling.
Progress of my backed projects:Giana Sisters - released, and kinda meh.
Sui Generis - prologue released, great stuff.
Distance - beta released, very happy with it.
Spintires - released, THE CATS BALLS. Map editor still to be released tho.
LA Game Space bundle - released, some cool stuff in there.
Convoy - released, it was ok.
Kôna - beta of episode 1 scheduled for end of this month.
Wildfire - Mar 2016
STRAFE - May 2016
Overall I've been very happy with this whole Kickstarter thing. Will definitely keep backing projects I believe in.
