My gas station story wasn't nearly as dramatic, but strange things were afoot.
I went to the gas station and the pump never gave me instructions to pre-pay; it just told me to go ahead and start pumping the gas, so I guessed it was one of the old fashioned ones were you pay after you pump, or whatever. I was just following its instructions. And then after I was done, I went inside to pay and the cashier actually tried to pay me, thinking I had even overpaid. Apparently someone else had already pre-paid and I jumped in on their ticket.
This is turning out to be an incredibly insipid story, sorry... I can only point to Renzatic's story in my defense.
I just said "No, no; I'm the one that pays you", apologized, paid her, and left.
Wow, that's a really pathetic story... It's like a scene from Curb Your Enthusiasm.

I've worked in 3 petrol stations throughout the years to fund my education (drinking) and we never had pre-pay pumps. Don't think they're very common this side of the Atlantic. (I've automatically assumed you are American, forgive me if I'm wrong).

This weekend I went to my sister's and brother-in-law's place. It was a lot of fun. We went to see the gay pride canal parade in Amsterdam on saturday. Fun but way crowded and we only saw the last ten boats, regrettably, because we were a bit late.
Furthermore, we watched four movies (Changeling, which depressed my sister, Ratatouille, The Dark Knight and Hot Fuzz) and smoked some water pipe on the balcony while talking and drinking beer/wine. It was a fun weekend.

I've been so excited by the fact that I can read for fun again that I've been dithering about what to read and so have selected nothing from my many options and am instead reading the internet which doesn't really count.
Also I've been playing Pirates! a lot and taking great pleasure in naming my awesome doom ship of horror and death things like "Fairy Butterfly"
