I've been playing Egging On on the XBox and loving (and also hating) it. You are an egg who's trying to climb to the top of the henhouse... and beyond that! I was expecting something a bit more relaxed and pure fun, but turns out that Egging On is devilishly challenging and just cruel at times - pretty much like Getting Over With Bennett Foddy but in 3D. Despite the challenge Egging On is definitely more likable of the two, and the physics feel less wonky in it too.
It's incredibly frustrating when one little mistake can erase hours of progress in this game, but the masochist in me makes me want to try it again and again and again. :D It's also very rewarding when you get past some difficult place, and the risk of losing everything should keep you on your toes all the time, which is pretty cool in a way. You can turn on some sort of checkpoints and helpers in the settings if you like, but I went with what the game recommended and chose not to use any of those.
So if you're into henke-games like this and really want to challenge yourself, do yourself a favour and give Egging On a try.

In a weird coincience, Terry Cavanagh (VVVVVV, Super Hexagon) ALSO just released (
https://terrycavanagh.itch.io/egg) a 3D egg platformer. (playable in-browser) I've managed to get 2 of the eggs into their nests.
What's up with all these EGG GAMES????
Anyway, I played through (
https://store.steampowered.com/app/2980260/Hypogea/)
Hypogea. Indie 3D platformer. Minimalist Lorn's Lure-esque world design. Pretty good platforming and exploration. Not much of a story. 2 hours long. Eh, it was alright.

I did a thing that’s uncharacteristic for me and got a PSN subscription and Arc Raiders. I’ve never been into online multiplayer but I kept hearing good things, like how the playerbase at this point is surprisingly friendly, so I wanted to get in before it goes sour.
Well, in my first match I got gunned down by a turret. As I was crawling around looking for a revive, I heard, “Don’t shoot! I’m friendly!” I said, “Don’t worry. I’m injured.” After cautiously approaching and seeing my situation, the guy and pulled out a med kit and tried to heal me. His buddy came up and said, “No, you need the defib for that. Maybe we have time to get one.” As my life bar flickered its last, I said, “Nah, it’s okay. I’m a goner. Thanks anyway, though!” And as I collapsed I heard my new friend say, “Aw man!”
Anyway, it’s cool. My game ID is Sleepmute, so add me if you’re playing too. I believe it has crossplay. I’ve also been playing the new free Battlefield mode, but the real multiplayer is tempting me.

I checked out Arma Reforger with Demagogue yesterday. After realising that I would have to fiddle with port forwarding to start my own server, we hopped onto a public server and bumped into a friendly guy from the UK who showed us the ropes; later we were joined by a guy from Switzerland who was equally friendly. I didn't play for very long in the end, just over an hour, but I was impressed with how much less janky this feels than Arma 3. It's by no means jank-free, but they made a bunch of smart changes, and it's especially the world and getting around in it that is smoother.
We'll want to play around with this a bit more, especially since there are some PvE game modes and mods that seem to be better suited to very small groups, but my first impression is: quite nice. Looking forward to a point in time when more of us have Reforger and we can perhaps get semi-regular sessions going.

Oh nice. Is it also more streamlined in terms of controls? Since it's on consoles now I'd imagine you can play it with a lot less buttons now.

Yeah, I'd say it's especially the controls that immediately come across as streamlined. Obviously it's still Arma, and the game lets you do more than your average shooter, but the basic functionality is better tied into standard controls, such as Space to jump and vault, or context-sensitive use with F. For the first half hour or so I found it quite odd: it's obviously Arma of one kind or another, so I have muscle memory tied to all of the weird quirks the earlier games had.

Much slicker experience, better & cleaner UI, more intuitive controls (coming from other fps), world looks and simulates a lot better... Probably the biggest change that matters for gameplay is the AI looks and reacts much better, animating more smoothly, moving more rationally, etc. The Arma3 AI movement looks really janky & cartoonish by comparison, and I was caught by how immersive it was watching more realistic characters take cover, run, shoot, and fall more realistically.

Oh yes I forgot to mention I'm playing Dishonored so far I've managed to get to the return to the Tower.

Re: Arma Reforger: due to the lack in missions or mods aimed at small groups, I'd probably tell people to wait a bit longer if they're curious but want something they could imagine playing regularly. If there's a free weekend at some point, though, I think it'd definitely be worth dipping a toe into these particular waters. You're much less likely to die immediately because of some physics snafu. :cheeky:

I think all Arma games need to have some level of physics jank, otherwise it just wouldn't be the same experience.
