I'm in the mood for some reading, and although I do have Correspondence of Thieves, I'd like to know if there are any other pieces of literature (because I don't want to say fan fiction, even though that's what it is :cheeky: ) that are considered to be worth reading.

You probably ask about fan stories in Thief universe, but I'll share my own way of... Scratching that "itch"? Presently I read Sherlock Holmes, I find it very atmospheric and often Thief-like. I suppose Lovecraft stories also have a Thief-like atmosphere.

If you're interested in related Thief like novels:
(
http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/127455.The_Lies_of_Locke_Lamora) The Lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch is a fantasy novel featuring a colorful cast of thieves and con artists in a city. Might be up your alley if you enjoy "underworld" sorts of characters.
Also check out the first few (
http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/4734404-sanctuary) Thieves World anthology books from the 1980s (often findable in used bookstores). Those take place in a large city "Sanctuary" and also features a cast of thieves and other underworld adventurers. The famous thief from these tales is 'Shadowspawn'.

The granddaddy of all thiefy literature is Fritz Leiber, whose Lankhmar stories served as the blueprint for every single fantasy story with thieves in it (he also invented the thieves guild concept - his stories are heavily influenced by a youth spent in crime-ridden Chicago). Ill Met in Lankhmar is the story to start with; if you like that one, you'll like the rest. There is also a great comic book adaptation by Mike Mignola.

Lankhmar is definitely the inspiration behind Sanctuary. I've always meant to check out Leiber's work...

theBlackman did some really good work. "To Pay The Rent" the adventures of Mr. Feiht is my favorite. I dunno how but the old Eidos msg board data is still intact. So here's a link for taste. If you like it I can email you a .pdf of the story. It's pretty long so I printed it out as I hate to do real reading on a screen.

What ever happened to him? I see he hasn't been on the boards here for over 2 years.
