I can read the excited and less excited (usually less excited) reactions to various aspects of the game everywhere, but I haven't seen any opinion on music in DXIW yet.
Is it good? Does it fit the atmosphere? Who made it? Is it at least as good or better than in DX?
I am really curious, because I loved the DX soundtrack very much. Let me know. Thanks!

From what I've heard, the music is spectacular. Even people who hated the game remarked that the music was excellent. Can't really comment since I don't have my copy yet, though.

I really enjoyed the music this time. The first one didn't do much for me except for the theme played in New York which got on my nerves after having spent so much time there.
The game really has TWO soundtracks.
- the orchestral/techish stuff which, I think, dynamically alters itself as you move through an area. Very good, IMHO.
- Kidney Thieves - who supply the music for NG Resonance, a fictional band that's very popular in the DX:IW universe. Kidney Thieves' music can be ordered off their website or at Best Buy (oddly each place has only one of their two albums).

my Opinion keep in mind
If you were a fan of the original soundtrack you will be somewhat dissapointed. The music in DXIW plays a less dominant role than it does in DX1 (whenever DX1 loads I will sit and listen for a while because I love the way the opening theme totally fits the mood of the game) to me it seemed diminished and less moving than it was in DX1, and less moody, more bland. It's okay, but I didn't notice it nearly as much as I did the music for DX1. The NG Resonance stuff isn't bad, but it's supposed to be a band and not background music, and there are definately real bands out thee with better stuff. I just consider the music to be strictly un-remarkable. Not bad, not something that would make you cringe in pain and thus make for a worse experience, but nothing that incredible either.

I myself have become an instant fan of KT. The secondary tracks are fairly good, but nowhere near as epic as the original tracks, which I found were almost in entirety very good.
The difference is that the music really plays less of an amotspheric role in DX2 and more of a something-to-listen-to that's really cool role. It still fits the game and what have you, but the varied style I feel has left the building.

And who made the backround music? Brandon/van den Bos duo again?
If yes, they couldn't make something bad, I suppose.

I totally agree with BlackCapedManX,
The music in Deus ex has much more emotion in it and was vital in the atmosphere created by deus ex. The music in the sequel is much more ambient, with very little memorable sequences and truly just background 'noise' which can be ignored. I think most people who played the first game (everyone i know anyway) extracted the music from the game to listen to at leisure. I dont think i feel the need to do that this time round :(

The music in IW is definitely not on the same level as from the first game. And by that I mean on a lower level. I've noticed that happens with many sequels, for example, Starcraft. Excellent catchy music, and the expansion is like that same music except mellow and ugly.
