So bring them on here and let's see what they have to say. No? Okay then.

What's not okay, is to continually mischaracterize people because of harmless personal differences.Isn't that what you do, and have been doing with Godzilla here? Isn't that what Goldie has built his entire persona around? Physician, heal thyself -- and stop this whole "lol u r so stupeed" tone that permeates
every single post of yours, especially when getting up
my ass (you don't wanna be there, btw, i eat more spicy food than i do fiber) about how I interact with certain people.

I notice that you resort to abusive ad hominem attacks when you're unable to successfully refute the argument at hand.

Not at all...There hasn't been any mischaracterization...He's simply talking about something that's obviously over his head...and because I happen to have specialized knowledge and experience in this area, I am providing that perspective.

I would say that he is one of the more knowledgeable people around here, regarding THIEF in general...I'm sure that you have certain specialized areas of knowledge, as well.

Here in the 'ol "Thief Forums", I have been frothing over Thief: The Dark Project et al (classic crpg) for many a year. Sometimes, I laughed at you for your lack of knowledge of not only a deeper understanding of Thief as a whole, but the classic crpgs that inevitably fueled it. I was wrong for calling you out as an uneducated gamer, it wasnt fair. I guess in some unprovoked revengeful way it was fun. Sorry.
As pettit or somesuch pointed out about himself earlier however, this type of behaviour isnt your fault, it is pure ignorance. General bigotry I cannot defend. Regardless, I apologized for doing it and have since stopped. So, in your seemingly computer soaked world, I guess I *have* built up some sort of persona designed to destroy some newcomer who pounces on whatever Goldmoon says. Truth is, I kinda like you, when you are just being "edgy" which usually translates to funny for me. I like funny.
Everyone else just thinks Im some nut who goes on and on about Ultima for some damn reason. Yes, I not only understand the complete history of Ultima from the ground up, having lived through it, but my passion lies in Might and Magic. The instigator. :) When MM first came out with Secrets Of The Inner Sanctum (drool), I knew I found my thing. Imagine my delight when I found Garriotts upstart LGS borrowing the cool parts from MM in spectacular fashion. Ultima, Wizardry, Might and Magic, oh my. Let me tell you, things were brewing all around. Of all the borrowing of the golden age (including many more participants than just the holy trinity), nothing proved as deviously fruitful as the LGS offerings due to their continual and passionate push for increasingly enhanced technology, culminating in Thief: The Dark Project.
It goes on and on. What more do you want from me. Cant you just let a fanatical hermit be?! Do you want me to take the time to search my entire lifes memories and explain every detail to you, complete with scans from the horde of video game mags!? I guess then Ide have to also write a massive book on the fantastic emotional impact these classic games had on so many young minds. The glory days of crpg was something, and Im glad I had it. For many people at the time, Ultima IV was a coming of age and an enlightening experience. Should I continually recommend that before "arguing" with me about classic crpg, go forth and play these masterful classics that paved the way for thy lustful and wanton endeavors in Thief?
Nay, I rather shall drool and froth all over the likes of thee.
:ebil:
Now, if you will excuse me, Blasphemy IV is almost upon us, and there are final preparations yet to be made.

I wonder if you'll come and read all this years from now, when you've grown up, and realise how cringe-worthy it is.
The crazy thing is I agree with you and Vae on this subject, but both of you are so pompous about it (in a really poor quality way, like 2 really bad actors trying really hard and failing) that you put me (and everyone else) off posting.
Repeatedly telling people that they are ignorant or don't understand is just as much flaming as me telling you two that you're idiots.

I'm sorry, but I thought we were talking about the general ambiance in the Thief reboot and not having pissing contests on who's opinion matters most(Goldmoon and dethtol, I'm looking at you two especially.) Geez, even Tomb Raider Forums is a more respectful place than this:nono:
Anyway, I listened to small portions of some of the soundtracks from the original Thief trilogy and the small pieces of the soundtrack we have from the reboot, one after the other. Much like I said before, there's nothing from the reboot's released tracks that really stick out in my mind after listening. Just compare the theme song from the Dark Project with the main menu theme of the Thief reboot and there's simply no contest in terms of the final result. Much like many of us old-school fans feared with the overall gameplay change, different style and the removal of Stephen Russell as Garrett, they aren't staying true to the spirit of the originals with the soundtrack either, stripping Thief of most of it's original identity until nothing but a husk remains of its former self.
I know I'm beating a dead horse here, but how can a developer that made a game like Deus Ex: Human Revolution(a game that for all intents and purposes, stayed true to what made the original Deus Ex so great while improving in many areas), yet make another game of a different long-dormant series that's incredibly UNfaithful to what fans like us loved about them? I understand it's a different team from those that worked on Human Revolution, but come on! Couldn't the Thief reboot team have at least had a proper look at what made these games so great, instead of slapping a beloved brand name on the cover of what seems to be an overly generic title?

That's what I noticed, as well...There's definitely a lack of distinctiveness in the NuThief soundtrack, from what what I've heard so far...which definitely will take away from the unique sonic atmosphere previously presented by Brosius (and Russell)...Again, I will wait until I experience the full work before making a final critique, but odds are high that we both will be right about this.

It's because there are two different teams, with two different approaches on how to produce a legacy title...Unfortunately with team NuThief, they've decided to actually disregard the lore and design philosophy that made THIEF great.

There is some unpleasant snarkiness in some of the posting in this thread. Keep it civil. And I strongly suggest some of you make use of the ignore feature.
