Easily the best Fallout game, that one.

I played a few hours of FNV and was turned off. I decided I didn't like the powder gangsters and rather than do as they asked, wiped them out. The game never registered my decision as a valid choice, so everyone continued to act like the powder gang still existed.
If I remember correctly, the game may have continually respawned powder gang members in the jail even as I was clearing it.

You should be able to pretty much completely wipe them out, IIRC, but it might not register fully until you complete the relevant quest.
They're a completely irrelevant faction for the most part anyway.
At the very least, you can get what few remain to call you some kind of embodiment of death if they see you, because you killed so many of them.

Yeah, pretty sure they'll just keep respawning until you activate the appropriate quest. Y'know, kind of like almost everything else in the game and indeed genre.

New Vegas is quite buggy, yes, but it's INFINITELY better than FO3 in a lot of ways. The only thing I liked better about FO3 was the world itself - while both looked very drab, I didn't find the desert a particularly compelling place to be in, whereas I grew up near DC so that had some appeal.

Naah, they are still making (mostly) bad remakes of old best selling games. XCOM is a good example that turned out ok. Fallout 3 is an example of something that turned out bad. The only great new(ish) game I can think of is splatoon. If it's such a great time for games why are there still no good thieflike games?

I was rather disappointed with gaming in general in the last few years. I guess Thi4f was the drop that spilled the cup. And Dishonored 2, although (

But recently there were some games that did soooo much right. At least two come to mind: Alien: Isolation and The Witcher 3. I think they are as good as the games we used to love so much 10-15 years ago.

FO3 sure had it's issues, but I felt they did a terrific job of transplanting the desolate wasteland feel from isometric to 3D perspective. Roaming around the barren lands, listening to the 50s radtio tunes, just
felt right.
It got repetitive after a while and did not age well, but for the time, it was an impressive re-imagining.

Each decade has it's own unique bits and ends that made each special and fantastic times to be in as a gamer.
80s... 90s... 2000s... 2010s....
That is a great summary, ice. I agree that while we may not have the intricate "yee games of old" so many here pine for, each decade is really great in it's own, unique way.

Yeah, what is this thread that talks about it being a great time to be a gamer and doesn't mention the greatest game of its time?
Renzatic on 24/11/2016 at 03:01
We've talked about Dark Souls enough. It's time to let some other games shine, even if they're in its shadow.
