(
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PElhV8z7I60) The video to the XX's 'Islands' has the interwebs, and its one of the best I've seen in AGES (watch right to the end to see why. Nicely understated, that). The song itself is fucking brilliant, in the brittle, shoe-gazey heartbreak style that the XX are a rolling masterclass in. WELL WORTH A WATCH.
PS I saw the play Jerusalem last night, and that is less well worth a watch. Unless you can imagine why welding the end of 'There will be blood' onto the Rhys Ifans drug-pantomime 'Twin Town' gets every critic in theatreland jizzing praise so hard the soho gutters clog. It's not bad, it's just not that good. I asked the girlfriend 'Come on, it was at least better than Avatar, wasn't it?'. She said no.

Excellent. Like it.

Yes. Good idea for a video and well executed.

God's away on business? Brittle? What the fuck are you talking about? It's a great song but it's about as brittle as old boots stewed in tramps piss and whisky.

It's a great video. The ones for Crystalised and Basic Space were pretty awful, but this one is brilliant, and brilliantly put together.

Also I don't think there's any symbolism in it. I'm pretty sure Tom Waits just happened to have some ostriches and baloons around the house and said "hey, lets make a musicvideo!"
