OMG! Daveh has the same IP address thingy wot I have
And also, if you are going to do two major upgrades in one maintenance slot, I would (politely) suggest that you be very sure of your backups, and have a good backout plan. By server upgrade, I assume you mean hardware upgrade?

Oh Yes, I will to poke Saam to make sure we have <i>very</i> thorough backups! ;)
I gather that the current server is not being upgraded, but rather a new one will probably be built. It is likely that were something to go tits up we could plug the current server back in and be back up quickly.

Do you have any idea when you could do the upgrade then?
And what changes there will be? I'm not sure if everyone else has experienced the same problem lately, but for me TTLG has been very slow at times lately. I've also got an error message "CGI limits reached" or something quite often lately, that's because of heavy 'traffic' on TTLG I suppose. I hope that the new one will be a bit faster and stable (couldn't think of a better word there!) but hey, you can't have everything! :p
Good luck anyway.
By the way... I've been wondering how much does it cost to keep TTLG going? Maybe you don't know or just don't want to tell it to everyone (which is completely understandable of course) but that would be quite interesting to know!

Any idea what the new hardware is looking like?

Looking sweet, David! :)

Alot of the forum stuctures I have seen aren't so great, but I really like this one.
It's also similar, if not the same, as the forum type over a game gossip and the avp section of it I often post in.
There is one part of it is like a bit better than this one:
it isn't so bright.
Alot of people get headaches when working with a computer, and I am one of them.
The reason for this is that the screen is a light source. Unlike reading from paper, the screen doesn't reflect light to the eyes, but emits it.
Looking at a white screen is very like looking into a light bulb.
I think a darker background would suit the thief series better than white. Even if you wouldn't do it for all the other sections, it would great if done for thief.
To see how it could look, dark and different for a seperate section, check out the look a game gossip. (I am not trying to generate traffic for them; I have nothing to do with the site, it's design is just the best I have seen, different to this one only in the colour area.)

Hast thou a link? Or are you testing our l33t Googling powers?

The first one with the blue background looks good to me, but the second one hurt my eyes for some reason.

This will probably sound lame, but I don't care.
What's the code (html) like?
