If ss1 isn't on the list (and ss2 is), the list is worthless.

Well, I admit I was I never expected to see Deus Ex on top 1. I expected something like... with less brains on it. At least 'down here' all games that require I.Q. higher than 7 to be fully playable don't make much sucess. Dunno if it's like that in the cold north or what.
But, well, sincerely, I think that all those lists of "X best games of all time", "(X*X^X) games you _HAVE_ to play" and etcetaras are quite... stupid.
All people have _very_ different opinions about everything. While most of those are made by people with very different tastes, they are still somewhat "mainstream". You rarely see a good indie on it. And by rarely I mean once when you were born and once again when it's time for you to die...

I think if you read a list with that attitude then you're in a good position to still get something beneficial from them. As long as they provide some justification about why the games are included and you can mentally filter out entries which are obvious 'fads' then you might find one or two that you wouldn't have otherwise considered.

The question is: Most don't. They only give a paragraph short explanation of what the game is and one or two of their features. IMNSHO that does not define a game as good.
And the fact that they'll only list games that were relatively sucessfull on the sales/released by great companies/famous in the U.S. shows what they are _really_ rating. Well, just my two cents. I don't want to get off-topic here.
