Well, it has come to an end.... - by rachel

My ole PII 350 with its RAM of 64Mo painfully managed to bring me through the whole Deus Ex Universe, and I'm proud to say here that I completed the game!!!
This game is just great! I have to admit I kinda cheated in the end. Knowing that there were three different endings, and aware of the computer's age, I saved before taking the final decision, and had the three endings for the same game.
I started with Helios. I had exactly the same reaction as the GBM: if someone is gonna rule the world, that's gonna be me. :p Besides, I think I'd pick this one IRL if I had the opportunity.
Cool ending!
Then I went Tong's way, as I considered Everett as responsible for the death of, hmm, you know who... that was cool too, but I don't think I'd have chosen that IRL... First I don't think it's the best solution, and second my chances to make it out of the base alive are close to zero.
Third was Everett's way. The hardest, IMHO, but I didn't know it until I tried...
Overall it's an excelent game. I uninstalled it from my computer as soon as I completed the third path, but I'm gonna reinstall it from time to time...
It's the best game I ever played after System Shock 2 and Thief: TDP.
Okay, I leave now, I have to complete System Shock 1 and Thief 2...

I've seen DX run on a Pentium 2... and anyone who can beat the game on such a system deserves a round of applause! :thumb: Hope you enjoy T2 and Shock1 (at least one of those will run smoothly on a P2).
Btw, if you enjoyed the open-ended aspect of DX, then you might consider playing Morrowind (which IMO is even more non linear). I haven't seen it run on a P2, but if you buy a new PC it will almost certainly be worth the trouble.

What's the problem about a PII? I played DX 10 times on a PII/400 with a VoodooII and 64Mb RAM. It worked perfectly fine.

I second that. As long as you don't increase the resolution or change the textures to 32-bit (that's what made the demo so demanding and kept me from buying DX for almost a year) everything works just fine. Well, almost everything: Hong Kong tends to drop the frame rate once in a while, especially during the MJ12 attack on Lucky Money - there are too many moving objects.

Marecki - Right, now you mention it, I remember I couldn't do anything during a whole minute. I could't even move, the PC was too busy calculating everyone was killed...
I don't know how I came alive out of this one, actually... I didn't fire a single shot in the whole scene. (Well, after all, I was hidden in the manager's office, near the pond... They couldn't find me.):cheeky:
However I think I'll wait a new PC before playing again...

The only scene that didn't work all fine was the massacre in Paris, in the intro cutscene. But that didn't really matter.
