Yes, yes, keep them all enclosed in the one place :ebil: The world would be a better place, and let's face it, George Bush wouldn't be governing too well from in there. I can't see a bad point...

Thumbs up to this guy :D
Its good to see someone devoted to something like that. I think its a great idea.
I doubt I'll be moving there anytime soon, though.

No abortions and contraceptives? Will they also have custom-designed toilets that don't clog up with infants?

I just keep thinking of that movie, 'The Village'. Even if Monoghan succeeds in convincing enough people to live there, eventually the kids in that town will grow up & definitely want to leave (provided they don't end up being flushed down the toilet first).
Zealots always scare me a little. I don't trust them.

To govern the country. Govern was for lack of a better word.

I wonder if there are going to be regular movie theaters?

Sure there will. They'll probably only show Disney animated features or 'G' rated movies. All the time. Forever. And TV programs will be limited to Andy Griffith's Mayberry, Leave it to Beaver, and Father Knows Best.
Shades of Pleasantville. wow.

While I applaud the idea in principle, in practice I don't see a community much different than any of the communities that already dot our nation. Human nature being what it is, even a town of reasonably pious Catholics will have a wide enough range of belief to foster the kind of bickering and gossip thats the norm for anywhere else. Being Catholic doesn't mean your a better brand of human being, it just means you're striving to be better.
I'm a cynic, but I would think that true Christian fellowship would mean being willng to help your fellow person out in a time of need materially or otherwise.
I have an empirical example for you. There is a family in my church - Mom, Dad, and a ten year daughter. No other family in the area except for his aging parents. He goes over to do some work on his parents house and while working on a ladder, the ladder slips on a wet deck. He falls down riding the ladder the whole 15 feet to the ground. He breaks his ulna in his dominant hand and sprains his left wrist badly too. Now this guy is self employed running cable under ditches and is self insured(through his home based business) plus his wife has MS. He's a former eagle scout and an active Knight of Columbus. His wife is telling me that they were in the middle of putting in new windows in thier house (this is in October) and that her husband won't be able to finish the project until his wrists heal. I offered to help and told her that if he tries to do to much to give me a call and I'd be glad to come out to thier farmstead and help any way I can. Just call me. Well she never called me and I don' think anyone else in that church offered to help. At least nobody she mentioned or that I heard of. Now I understand that pride might have prevented her from calling me, fear of appearing too needy or being a pain, but If I'm nothing else, I try to be sincere when I offer help. My frustration comes in at the point that even in the face of a real need, most people pay lip service and little more. There is enough able bodies men in in the local Kof C to have finished off his windows in a day. His wrists did heal, he finished his windows on his own, and he still goes to Mass more regulary than I do. Maybe he's the one with the real faith? No, I don't hold out a lot of hope for this Catholic Community - unless he can use his millions to get everyone's mind off of where thier next dollar is coming from to pay for the cable tv they don't need or the SUV that gets 15m/gal.
As for Catholics not using contraception. Lip service. :o
