I've noticed, for some time, that the PM inbox seems to have a hard time telling me which messages are actually unread. It can say "you have 5 unread messages" - I go to the inbox and there aren't any. Unless I select all my messages and mark them all as read, it'll tell me I've got unread messages for weeks after I've read them.
Which is annoying.
It'd be nice if it didn't happen...

I really must try that search function I've been hearing about.
Why are Jellsoft having such trouble sorting it out, I wonder?

Very few servers have trouble with it at all. They taken a look at the server config and deemed everything to be fine with that.
Rumour has it that a completely new routine ha been written for the new version of vB3 - vB3.1 which is supposed to be very easy to mod. Hopefully that'll take care of it.

Has this issue been addressed and fixed? I saw your comments, David, on the vB bug tracker:

We've had this problem for ages, until 3.0.7 where the workaround above fixed it.
I haven't recieved any PM's lately so I haven't been able to check it. ;)

It's "fixed" in that the workaround no longer breaks anything else.
Last night we had Freddie from Jellsoft on the forums trying to see if he could actually fix it.

Ah, okay. So the problem is semi-fixed? ;)
Better than nothing I guess.
