I just installed DX GOTY edition from Direct2Drive on my Win xp machine. This is the first time installing since switching from Nvidia to a Radeon 9550. When I start up, the screen goes to black and stays that way. No sound or anything. I've tried switching to all of the other video devices.. same thing. Running the game in safe mode with everything checked off works, but it's no sound and in a window!
Anyone know of any issues with Radeon cards? BTW, I do have the latest drivers and the vid card is the only thing that I switched since last playing the game.

I don't know much about radeons, but with nvidia cards the problem is usually something to do with drivers. Usually the older ones (detonator) works better with DX. Maybe you could try some older radeon drivers

make sure the game is patched to the latest version (not sure if patches work with the direct2drive version).try running the game in win98 compatibility mode.
