So basically me and my pal have been playing SS2 on LAN multiplayer co-op, and it worked just fine. But when we saved the game and continued next week, we both spawned as my friend. :D We have the same stuff and skills and there's "another player" standing there who has *my* skills and inventory. That was kinda funny for a while but there seemed to be no way to fix it so we figured that we'd have to start all over again and finish the game on a one long run (nights are great for SS2 lan-parties, lol)
But then there's the problem. You see, I was playing the hacker guy and my friend was playing the psionic(?) guy... BUT, when we start the game, and I go to the NAVY, the first year isn't what it's supposed to be, it's the first year from OSA!! And when I try to go to the OSA missions, the first year there is the first year from NAVY! But the second and third year are normal... wtf. It's kinda hard to explain but I hope you'll understand. I really have no idea what's causing this, because on the PC my friend is playing, it's normal. I even copied the files from that PC to the PC I'm playing on, but it's still bugged. Anyone know what I could do to fix this? :confused:

Copying the save game file would normally cause the two of you to duplicate characters, too.
Other than that, I guess it boils down to a question of keeping several incremental save files. They sometimes get corrupted, I'm afraid. Have you visited Kolya's (

Ah, thanks for the link :thumb:
But that's not the biggest problem, we could start a new game, but;

That's the big problem, which prevents me from playing SS2 :(

There's probably something wrong with one of:
earth.mis
station.mis
allobjs.osm
You didn't mention if you or your friend are using any mods?
(Or you did, and I'm just blind)

Any idea how I could fix the files if there's something wrong with them? I've tried re-install already :erg:
We're not using any mods, just a basic SS2 installation with the multiplayer patch (and safe_texture_manager in .cfg to keep it from crashing in the XP pc, the other one is using Win98. I tried to use DDFix because I have a 8800, but it didn't work for some reason) I don't know if it makes any difference, but the game box is a "black diamond game series" and there are TWO cds in it, both of which have System Shock 2 install files, yet they have slightly different files? Strange...

I think one of those CDs is the patched version and one is unpatched, IIRC.

Huh. What's the point in that? :D Maybe I should try installing the game from the other cd (2) and see if there's any difference..?
